Scat mats work great, they give a tiny electric shocks when stepped on, run on a 9 volt battery. One of our cats (Copper) is fearless and thinks he’s a little mountain climber. The scat mats have saved our house, our sanity and the little shit Copper. Actually he’s not so little as he weighs in at 18 lbs. The above is Copper contemplating his next mountain climbing adventure.

When this one wasn't much more than a kitten, she was cruising through the house with a piece of tinsel hanging out her butt. I ask in my daughter's presence....why I wonder how in the world did that get in there? Daughter was maybe 14-15 , she just kind of laugh at me n shook her head....

Gromit, aka: Beetlejuice, The Beej, or BeeGee, hanging out on my bass boat. He's about a quarter-bubble off level but he's such a good boy.

When I was in Okinawa someone brought the Marine Corp magazine back to the warehouse and asked when I'd posed for the cover. ??? All you could see of the Marine were his blue eyes and part of his nose he was so well camouflaged. It was uncanny. I wanted to smile and walk away, but something about integrity and honor and some other stuff wouldn't let me. Everyone has a doppelganger I guess.

We used to set up our tree in the foyer and it was accessible to all the cats - we had five back then. But when Henry and Arthur saw it for the first time it was game-on. They were literally chasing each other through the tree. Luckily we had only just started to decorate it, and nothing fragile was on it yet. We tried to train them to stay away, but it didn't work. Arthur would actually pull bulbs from their sockets and bat them all over the house at 3:00 am. We now keep the tree in our library, and I had to add slide bolt locks to the doors because Henry can open almost anything else. They are only allowed supervised visits now.

We're fortunate, none of the three oranges is inclined to climb the tree. We only have the occasional missing ornament.

*Knocks on wood* So far this season the cats haven’t been very interested in the tree. Last year they managed to break even plastic ornaments that were low. This year we kept the good stuff up higher, and ended up not using the tree skirt because that thing was like cat nip to them lol. It was funny when we set up the tree because we found fur a lot higher up than we expected (from last year)

This is actually a pretty cool idea for avoiding the whole issue entirely. Not that I'd have the patience for it

To me that looks like a giant cat toy. I’m sure our bratty Copper would be leaping up and trying to knock the ornaments out of the park.
