Most likely not going to happen but would love to see the new 3.44 Litre V6 without the twin turbos in the next gen Tacomas. This engine is vastly improved and more efficient than the current 2Gr-fks.
    Any thoughts?

I doubt the 4th Gen Tacoma will have twin turbos, my guess is a 4 cylinder single turbo.

Will probably get some variant of the 2.4L single turbo that came out on the Lexus NX. Something about 275hp and 320lb-ft. If the the tundra is any indication, the hybrid versions will be on the upper trim levels only.

In all likelihood there will be a hybrid in the mix but will it be an electric motor coupled to a multispeed transmission as in new Tundra or an ECVT as in Toyotas existing hybrid vehicles.

A hybrid option will be available I think on a N/A V6 for all trims and maybe a single turbo I4 as the standard engine.

    Since we're speculating;
Whatever engine it gets, some of the bored members of the previous generations at TW will visit the 4th gen section to say their engine is better,,,,

I don't think there's going to be a V6 for Tacomas going forward. If you want a V6, it's Frontier or Gladiator. Or a Ranger Raptor if they decide to do that. GM going with their 2.7L I4 is going to be interesting - it's rated for 420lb-ft in their half tons. Just wafting along on tidal waves of torque.

Will I need a snorkel for my future hybrid electric motor ? o_O

Will I need skid plates made out of kevlar to protect the hybrid batteries? :cookiemonster:

Will Raptor lights work with the prius engine we will get? :duh:

I think for now. Look at the RAV4, they started out with the hybrid on the upper trims and I think you can get any model with a hybrid.

Electric motors are sealed and waterproof. I'd be more concerned about rear diff vent.
Battery will probably be located under rear seat out of harms way.
Prius engine? No! Could be 2.5 L engine used in Highlander and rav4 ranging from 219 to 302 hp.

The Rav4 prime is pretty cool - and supposedly a strong seller. Although would probably make more sense in the Ford Maverick or the Hyundai Santa Cruz. Maybe a bit less-so for a Taco.

What's the model number of this 3.44 liter engine. I cannot find it anywhere and I do mean a naturally aspirated version of the turbo v6. Do they even make one for sale.

More likely it'll be a 4 cyl turbo in future tacoma's. Imo, the v6 will be history in these trucks.

This would make sense, as the new 4runner is getting a turbo 4 as well.

Yes, the toyota dealer I just picked up my 2022 4runner at. Sales guy is a total Toy fan. Not just a 9-5 sales guy.
