I have a 2006 Tacoma that has the standard rust that was a problem for them. Would it be worth it to get it repainted in terms of resale value? Possibly looking to get a new vehicle sometime next year and trying to figure out the increase in resale value a new paint job would bring.

If you’re talking about frame rust, No.
The rust needs to be cleaned and any bad areas repaired.
Simply painting the frame won’t help, unless the potential new buyer doesn’t know any better.

    That's what I meant, the sanding/repair/paint.

If done correctly. Yes, it should help.
The biggest problem is doing it correctly.
I don’t know what type of rust you are dealing with?
But the “bad” type is hard to repair “correctly”, as it is usually just as bad or worse inside the frame.

You can always schmear lipstick on a pig. Someone will think its a goddess.

In your case, you could help the sale of the truck with a respray of the roof and hood, then do a headlight restore on those oxidized peepers.

    Increase value.....not likely.

Vehicles are a bit like a house. If the house needs a shingle job, then its a tough sell. If the shingles are new, then no increase in value.

The condition of the frame could be a whole new situation.

At work so I will have to get frame pics later. Thanks for all the advice so far! I bought new bulbs, y'all are saying I should just get new headlights in general? How much do y'all think a respraying/new headlights would run?

Respray will depend on who does the work and the quality of the work. Won't take long to bust $1000

The headlights, suggest to try the Sylvania Headlight Restore kit from Amazon. Its about $20. If that doesn't clean up the headlights, then new OEM replacements will be $400+.

Sometimes you can find decent used headlights on Craigslist, ebay, etc. I missed out on a set that was $40 for both

My indigo also has roof and hood issues. My budget is about a grand. The rest of my truck is in great shape and runs awesome at 173,000 miles.

Just looking at these couple of pics here the truck looks rough (including the cracked front bumper, oxidized plastic & headlights, tarnished grill, etc.) and any money/time you sink into it to try and increase its resale value will more than likely be a breakeven endeavor at best unless you're a DIYer and can do a lot of this stuff on the cheap. It'll definitely help its curb appeal and get it sold faster, but again, is the increased resale value worth the money & time you'll need to invest? :notsure:

Either use a headlight restore kit or buy some cheap aftermarket headlights. You'd have to be an absolute fool to spend that kind of money on new OEM replacements for a truck you're about to sell.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
The Chinese Commy aftermarket headlight options are off the hook on Amazon. I bought a set for my '98 Ranger 3 years ago for $36! LOL. Totally changed the appearance of the truck. Forget the OEM's.

You'll likely never recoup the expense of paint repair, especially if it's done correctly. You might be able to pull off some benefit if you go uber cheap at some place like Maaco but if the rig is good mechanically, go after that market. There's guaranteed to be "that guy" that's concerned about it running safely and well and could give a shit about finish. A young buck could rattle can that thing and be stoked while he flogs that thing around town and in the dirt with all his buddies.
