Was the setup of the ROAM a pain in the ass? I know they'll be much quicker on something like the Roofnest or iKamper. I like how the Roam has the overhang over the ladder as well the annex room for only 200 more. Did you have the annex room? I think the annex room for the iKamper is something like $650-700. I do realize this is major first world problems haha. I picture using the annex room more in the future once my daughters are older. I suppose I'll leave it for sale and see what happens. If not, well then I'll still have it haha

I have been running CVT Shasta Ruggedized for the last few years which has an annex room and it looks similar to the ROAM you mentioned. With the RTT like mine or the ROAM the tent has to Flip open 180 degrees which isn't really supper hard to setup and I actually can get mine done pretty fast, but the difference I see with the CVT or ROAM compared to the iKamper is you need to walk around the truck to get to all the straps and unzip/zip up the cover for the RTT. It seems like with the iKamper everything is done on one side.

Now closing my RTT back up is were I fell the work comes in. I can and do close my tent up with full size pillows and sleeping bags. That’s were the work comes in trying to lift on the tent and tuck the excess tent material in. It can be a workout and really sucks in the rain. You will get muddy and wet! Also not fun if you tweaked an ankle or back!

Now for the annex room... I have a Love/hate for the annex room on my tent and actually in 4-5 years I have own my RTT I have never used the annex room. The cover over the ladder ( not using the annex room) is great, it covers the ladder and gives you something to stand under when raining, it also Keeps boots dry while sleeping. But tucking all that extra material in when packing up sucks, especially in rain/snow/cold or when you have it full with pillows and bags!

Annex room is freaking thing is a PITA to put on, well at least with my CVT it is. 1st You have to remove the cover to put the Annex room on. 2nd The room is a one piece that goes around the ladder meaning you setup the tent then you have to lift the ladder up slid the annex under the ladder and then slid it into the C channel of where the cover was remove. Doesn’t sound hard? The freaking annex room material is HEAVY.

Now all that said I do only Point to Point camping and I’m not setup long enough to use the annex room and I’m 98% of the time by myself in the tent. Two people setting up my tent would help with all that work.

If you want to see my setup I’m in Maine and willing to meet up for a beer and compare setups!

I have seen people tie bungee cords around the tents when closing to have everything pull in while closing instead of flop out.

pat some point, I’d love to check it out. A RTT is in our future, just don’t know what and really want to see things in person so I can see the quality and usage before entrusting another RTT company to do me right.

Mr Float makes the most sense - he's getting the bed rails so that consolidates it into one tomorrow. But let me know because if it just makes sense for me to hold onto it for a bit longer I don't mind it's tiny.
