Good question. Maybe behind the rear seats as low as possible? That might be the most muffled. Wrap in some MLV maybe? Not sure.

yeah... like maybe not even "mounted" just wrapped in foam and left to dangle behind the seat storage or something. i'll have to figure that out when i dig into it

Mine are under the dash, that way they are next to the fuses and easily accessible. You don’t hear them and it’s also a very common OEM relay location from most manufacturers so.

Made a small bracket to mount relay holders and new fuses next to the OEM location.

Used the parts linked below, the relay holders clip into to the fuse box. Also like this style of fuse holder as it gives you the option to run each fuse from a separate power / join them together or any combination. Mine are configured as 2 fuses powered direct from battery and 2 fuses on ignition power.

Mine are all in a Bussmann relay box under the hood.

I've built a few of these for people with Double Cabs. I just used 2 micro relays and they seemed to fit just fine up in the brake light area. At least I haven't had any complaints from the people that asked me to do it.

I put the KC4 on my 21 Access Cab last weekend. Only 2 screws to remove. Kit has 3 bulb plugs to wire up to the 4 KC lights (I wired the 2 center ones together) then just pull the existing bulbs and insert plugs. Used the existing rubber seal and two screws to mount it up…and done. So easy, and what a difference. A+ from me.

    I’m
So for the Bd5’s a relay is required it seems that a relay would sit on the liner might cause some noise inthe cab

That’s why they’re wrapped in loom tape — it’s a felt texture and makes it very quiet. You can also tape it to the inside of the lip.

This might be a bit overkill for what you're doing, but engine bay mounted relay boxes are the direction I went and I'm pretty happy with them. Good to have everything in one place imo. Bought them off Amazon. I'm having the same power issues with mine even though I ran a 16ga ground from the lights so I guess one of the spare relays will have to be cargo light power like y'all sayin

Can anyone confirm that the new gasket for the third brake light recall fits with the BD4?

I’m not sure that it does. The BD4 has its own gasket (“O” ring) and was designed around the lights and the roofline, not the original light shape. My personal thought is that it is a worse gasket than the MESO design, which can easily be supplemented if you felt it necessary.

I see now. Mine actually didn't come with an "O" ring, which is why I looked into the recall gasket. Thanks for the response. I'll submit a ticket.

Sorry about that. Must have slipped past me! I’ll get it taken care of:) Install is very easy, the round print just presses into the channel.
