Yeah, just like anywhere, you'll have 1 bad apple that spoils a bunch. I know, for myself, if you call or stop in...I'm not going to turn you away. Business is business and I'll either have it on the shelf, order it in for you, or if the wait is too long...I'll send you someplace else local that does. I'll write down the address and phone number if you need.

    That's because you're a good guy. :fistbump:

Out of curiosity, is there any comission on sales?

Yes. There are several commission pay schedules depending on your position in the company.

So.. I recently picked up a benchtop lathe (7x10) and a benchtop mill was added today.

The work bench for these two is 2 foot deep 8 foot wide. The current top is 1/2 inch thick particle wood.

Before I mount the mill and lathe I think I'm going to upgrade the top to 3/4 plywood but I'm looking for ideas and things I could or should consider.

    Thanks in advance!

    That's a great idea actually.

The base is made from 2×4 with 4×4 legs.

I wonder how helpful it would be if I put a bottom on the top and fill that with sand then put the top on to help with vibrations

Then that guy is an even bigger fool as he's literally losing out on pay.

I think for sure another 3/4" on top. A shelf down below, or a couple of shelves also with 3/4" then find you some lengths of bar stock and use that for weight. Bar stock, lathe chuck, steady rest..

I don't mind learning new things at all... and I'm open to any and all ideas!

Not sure I follow all that at the end but it already has a shelf/foot rest below.

Thinking about adding some drawers to hold the tooling and bits for the metal lathe and mill.

    Brown noser, of course.
Yes. Because we all get a piece of the whole thing.

I meant adding shelf or two for bar stock then I think depends on what extras did you get with the lathe; a steady rest or 4 jaw chuck? Steady rest to support longer pieces....maybe a 10" length capacity you wouldn't need one:confused:
If I knew someone close by that could use steel bar to tinker with....man I'm going to purge the shop soon. Scrap steel prices are pretty cheap.

Oh yes.. I understand now.. and yes storage space for all the extras is required.

I have a full 4×8 workbench for woodworking and it's over loaded !

And you and I are closer than you realize.. I live just across the river in Iowa

I just made a "Christmas movies" playlist on my Plex server. Eighteen hours and one minute long.

Some are obviously acceptable, others a bit more... questionable.

Never fear! I have it on my Google Play account but not on my Plex server. A friend who shares his Plex movies with me has it, though. :)

It's no Die Hard but it's still a fun movie.
