Lol you know I have faith in the engineers...but not the first one!
Every first one of anything I have ever built is never as good as the next one!

That looks perfect. Love it. And you beat me to the goal. I am almost there, but you petty much did all the mods I want to do, except, I changed my mind and will be running 5.29's and an RCI rear bumper. I also plan on dumping the ugly of road decal.

I did have a monetary distraction though, in the form of another new vehicle. I bought the Taco in December of 2020 and 2 weeks ago I got a brand new cousin for the two to enjoy their company. So some of the mods will need to wait. I plan to do the same mods to it's cousin.

My pricing will be out of date as I bought it in early 2017 before prices took off due to the overlanding craze and then took off again due to inflation.

I believe I paid $2300 CDN back then.

I work for a company that runs a fleet service pickup trucks with canopies (toppers, shells, etc). We have found the Century “Ultra” line to be the most leak proof canopy. Century is a line produced by Leer that is supposed to be more budget friendly, but we have found them to work better in our climate.

The main reason being that the Century Ultra series have ‘framed windows’ with rain gutters. A lot of fibreglass canopies have “SUV style” or “flush” windows with a bulb seal. We have found these all leak eventually, and when you open the back window all the water falls into the back, or on your head. The framed windows of the Century Ultra keep out the rain and trap the rain when you open the back.

This is also the reason I have windoors (side opening) that have no vents or sliders or pop-outs or bug screens. Just solid glass, a gutter and a protected gasket.

Anyways……being kinda OCD about canopies (clearly) after years of problems with wet equipment, wet tools, wet everything, I specc’d this canopy exactly how I wanted it.

    -Carpeted ceiling to prevent condensation
    -Solid glass side-opening windoors.
-solid front (cab side) window that is removable for cleaning.
    -Thule roof rails.
    -framed windows.

It has lived up to all expectations. No regrets. Only downside it the are pretty plain looking.

They have a huge list of options but only a limited number on their website. In ordered through a dealer to get everything I wanted:

    https://www.centurycaps.com/century...e78-d8f0-4440-acc6-7db8ef458e9a&reloaded=true

I have no experience with all the new Alu-cab and smart-cap overland style canopies as they were not even a thing in North America in 2017. I have no plans to get rid of this canopy.

I looked them up. As well as others and I could not believe current prices, near 4k US. Nuts. Might as well build my own at that price. Lol.

Yeah, I found my receipt and paid just over $2400 CDN before taxes, in 2017. Based on your quote, I’d be facing over $5000 CDN in 2021, so the cap has over doubled in price in 4 years. Nuts. I would have thought twice, at that price.

It’s the feeling you have just before your post:

“thanks TW for everything…….goodbye, I am moving on to a Tundra”.

I bought my MX shell early also in 2017- it’s too good to change anything there and all I need. But then all I also needed was just a rack, that’s all I need. And this solar panel, that’s all I need. And these lights, that all I need. And this bumper swing, and this jack, that’s all I…

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
All was well before I met the WI crew...then it was: skids will be helpful. Oh yeah, sliders... Then, bumper/winch. Oh boy, she's getting heavy...lets look at springs/shocks. Powered cooler? Sure! Solar will help keep the cooler cool all day, even when I'm parked. ...maybe now we're done? Maybe?

    Simpler is best!

I’m here about done changing my truck. Don’t have too many more parts to add.

Only really gonna change the suspension once my stock set wears out, and possibly look into getting OEM Audio+ for sound

Re: "Sleeper" : I'm old enough! My Dad purchased a 1970 Mustang SportsRoof in Calypso Coral with matching interior, SelectShift automatic. Matching color-keyed wheels, "dog dish" hub caps and a 351 Cleveland V8. He let me drive it as long as I brought it back with a full tank of gas. Smart Man: That was the "rev limiter" lol It was a no-nonsense handful to drive, but fun!
