2nd gens on 37" tires

the sticker is 16, anyone who actually gets that on a lifted truck with bigger tires is using common core math

 

Yessirrrrr once you start lifting adding gear bumpers etc. Say goodbye to anything near 16mpg
A BUNCH of my homies stay at 13-13.5 that's with a tune but also heavy modded

 

Totally agree my truck felt super sluggish and meh on stock gears even on 33s it was ok. Got 4.88s on 35s was good felt decent wish I had gone 5.29.s. Now I blew a rear end and swapped in a spare stock gearing man the hunting for OD on the hwy and stuff just gets old and the very tame dodge omni level of acceleration is boring. Now I'm saving for a 9" rear with 5.29s and regear again in the front with 5.29s

 

Damn that's pretty weird man it might be cause I drive like an old man lol but I've been on 35s/34s for about 2 years now and the only difference I do see is once I pass 75 which is RARE it struggles to keep up with traffic but most of the time I stay at 70 and rpms are at 2k even

 

That's exactly the problem plus you have the pedal pressed down to the point to maintain any speed going up a hill it kicks down vs just cruising right up it. It's not weird because most people report this on stock gearing and 35s or they are just lying to themselves that it's fine and haven't paid close enough attention. These trucks stock were around 2500 in OD stock gears and tires going 70 you're 500 rpm below that and struggling to hold that speed. I live in rolling hills and it's constantly downshifting rolling 70 to maintain speed. The mtns are 10x worse. Hauling sucks even more on stock gears which I do more than 90% of the people on here.

 

Yeah man mine actually doesn't sound like that at all if that was the case I would have DEFINITELY regeared OR. moved back down to 33s lol
But honestly the drive is not half bad I've actually hauled a max of 3 tons from san antonio texas to ATL Georgia with this setup and that's the only time I felt the truck struggle OBVIOUSLY lol
But my truck is pretty responsive to the pedal

I still think these trucks are gutless and no amount of gearing is going to change that.

Ill be saving for either a v8 or a supercharger.

 

Do not do a supercharger. I don't think it's worth it at all... gearing does more than a supercharger for our trucks. Also I've learned to live with my truck being slow as shit. Set cruise on 70 to 75 on the interstate and be happy.

 

I agree, But if i do an engine swap i might aswell make room for a new front diff. Im not sure if i want to go that far yet.

'06, 4.0L, auto, 5.29, upgraded brakes, 8"+ lift, 9.5-13 mpg depending on conditions, definitely happy with its power.

 

Think I'm going with 4.88s cause I hope to do a 60 in the rear.
Wanna lock the front now so doing 4.88s at the same time.
37's coming next year, hopefully early.

 

I had no issues with stock gears and 35s... wheeled it all over as well. Went to 4.88s and 37s, not a huge difference but feels fine, now on 39s and 4.88s but with dual cases and a 4.7 second case, THATS where the change comes into play, axle gearing is so minimal idk how people bish about it so much. If you want real gearing add another transfer case... all the 5.29s in the world wont come close. And for anyone complaining about road driving and power... its a freakin turd from the factory buy something else lol.

 

For some reason I thought you had 4.56s.

I agree. Other than when my truck was towing something I was content with 36's and stock 3.73 gears.
