TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Just noticed the other week that the 4th to 5th shift flare is essentially gone since the @JustDSM tune. Did you do something specifically to address that?

 

Yes he did. I just don't remember what it is that he does to make it stop. I may be wrong here but I might have had to do with the torque management tables, but I could be off the mark.

 

Oh god, say it isn’t so. I need this adjustment in my life. I will have to shoot him a note and get these tweaks.

 

There an easy way to look up what ECM part number I have?
2012 2wd Prerunner TRD Sport DCLB v6 4.0 with A/T.

Kinda seems like I’d have to take apart a lot of the dash to Pull it out.
And also to double check, it’s the center black box of the 3 computer boards behind the glove box ?

EDIT:
nvmd -- I just pulled it out from the bottom of the dash. super easy lol.
14 clips and a few 10mm I had it in and out in 12 minutes with taking pictures of the wire harness clips.

Anyone else who may need the ECM info, its: 89661-04E00
but check yours just in case !

 

FWIW, I remain happy with @JustDSM's standard and "+" variant "blended" tune. It combines familiar response off the line, with increased responsiveness above that. I recommend anyone thinking about it give it a try.

 

I need to finally buy some credits and do some remote tuning with @JustDSM . I’ve been thinking of doing a full day dyno rental just north of Denver and try to find 3-4 others to share the day and split the cost.

 

Are there any options for an 87 octane tune? I've had my supercharger with TRD flash for a long time now and love it, but I'm working in an area without 91 and I really dont want to remove the supercharger or get a new vehicle..

Edit to add this is pretty low elevation, about 1000 ft.

 

Has anyone experienced some belt slippage from the SC during these colds days at start up??

When i start the truck in the mornings (whens its been cold) I hear a quick SC sound, and quickly dissipates away.

 

You can always add octane to your 87 gas

 

just remove the supercharger belt. should be fine doing that until u can get 91 readily again

You can. You'll just get a lot of ping and detonation if you give it too much beans.
