Put them on a usb drive, plug it in then turn on your truck and it should auto load.

with the update is it gonna reset my unit to where i have to download all my apps again?

 

Kinda, you dont have to redownload anything, but it will reset all system settings. So your steering wheel controls wont work along with a few other system things. You will have to go back into car settings and select a car (tacoma is not listed) I picked a rav4 and it works.

 

On the 11.6 inch Joying, the update completely wipes the head unit. You have to redownload everything and re-set everything up. The only thing it retained for me was my startup image. Every setting was reverted to stock and all my apps were gone.

Also, gonna try this again. What is everyone using for their launcher? Are you just using the default one or did you download a launcher from the play store?

Do I need to extract all files to USB drive

 

You'll download the update files which will be in a zipped folder. Extract the contents of that folder to a fat32 formatted USB drive and then plug the drive into the head unit. It will recognize the update files and automatically reboot and install. Best to have the truck running for this in case it takes awhile.

 

Weird mine shows a Camry. Wonder if that's why my steering wheel controls are a little out of place.

Does anyone know how to set steering wheel buttons to do what you want them to do? I've tried it a couple times, but it doesn't change anything. I'd like to remap them.

 

You cant change them manually. They are fed their signals by the canbus system. The only way is to change what car its set as, rav4 gave me pretty much all buttons working. I also did hilux and that worked too.

Try to find a car that has the same or similar steering wheel as the tacoma and you will get the best results.

 

Perfect, I'll change that when I get off work.

Edit: I wish you could remap them. So I stop trying to change the song, instead of increasing the volume. My wifes car (and every other car I've owned) has them set up Volume (Up/Down), Song (Left/Right).

That's my only gripe

So has any one been having gps signal issues lately. Mine has been terrible. The wife and I went out on a night run looking for snow and couldn't get signal maybe like 1 to 2 sats. Usually I get like 15 to 18 sats

 

But couldn't even connect to even one

 

Well for some reason the gps antenna didn't like being under the dash no more . I found this gps tool app . Also I'm gonna just put my gps receiver on the dash . I'm connected to about 25 sats
