Oh and it use to see winters I just stopped winter driving it last year, the liquid road salt they use around here eats everything and it’s just not worth driving a new vehicle in winter even if you undercoat them, the shits just so abrasive. The welds around my cab mounts and my lower control arms, front axles, and just about every component in the area of the front tires is flaking paint and showing rust as bad every other generation of Tacoma’s.

Thinking outside the box i salvaged two pieces of already made scrap metal. Made a rack and added some hardware for tiedowns. I love saving money.

Getting sick of my battery being low or dead due to lack of driving (I work from home, and its not cold enough for ice fishing season) So I am installing a charging port to the front.

Here I am testing it through the grill before I make the full harness, then I am going to mount it right next to the fog light I think, though I am going to check some other locations in the front too.

Under a year, Toyota replaced it last year when it was -20 degrees out for 2 solid weeks. Problem is the truck will sit in the cold for 2 weeks without driving.

I had the same problem after my truck sat all last winter, and again in the spring when it would sit for a week or two between adventures. A circuit breaker between my accessories and battery helped greatly with the short term parking. However when I put the truck away this winter I’m just going to remove the battery and put it in the garage.

Ok, new location. I am going to make a mounting plate from HDPE (sheet plastic) that clips into the holes that are there for the rubber liner. Should hold it pretty solid and out of view, its a weather proof plug, but its also filled with dielectric grease too. Plus now I can put the charger on the upper control arm or tire and leave it out in the rain.

Just got to put the inline fuse in also.

I also replaced the OEM battery with an AGM from Canada energy, still a 24F and having 3 relays with constant power was still enough to drain it in two weeks. They got it back to full strength for me and I since put that circuit breaker in. Something I should have probably had between the battery and accessory fuses which I located all into one aftermarket fuse box. I don’t think the intention of the breaker is to pop it every time the trucks going to sit but that’s what I use it for.

My challenger and bmw both have quick disconnects on the batteries due to sitting for 8-10 months a year. I did think of putting a high output relay in for my audio system to cut power when the truck is off, but Im not sure if cutting power might harm my DSP.

Installed the caliraised behind the grill light bar brackets. Hidden lightbar bracket wont work anymore without some modification, it was just easier to get new brackets. I also bought the sdhq dual behind the grill brackets in case the caliraised didnt work.

I used the third slot on the new brackets but filled the holes a little deeper to get the bar a bit further back from the back of the grill. Perfect fit. And if you wondered, its still bright as hell even with some small bits of the grill in the way.

Grill can come on and off with the sso bumper no problem. With the light bar in there, it makes it an issue removing the grill. I trimmed off about an inch of material from the inside of the bottom of the grill. Some long useless piece of plastic gets trimmed, and no problem with instillation now. I hate stopping to take photos , sorry.

But, i wouldnt hesitate yo tell anyone to buy the behind the grill brackets, you still get plenty of light.
