Official 2021 NCAA Football Thread

I’m hoping that’s what they decide to do. I don’t want to see any upheaval before/during the playoff run.

 

The heisman is such a joke. I feel like if you’re going to give it to a qb he needs to be amazingly better than the other candidates, and at least as good or better as previous qb winners. If you can take a player off of a team and the team is still basically the same, they aren’t heisman worthy.

Wish they made it more of an impact player award than a favoritism award.

Hutch should have won this year.

 

I didn't even know he was a candidate til auburns quarterback got hurt and couldn't close out the 4th quarter of the iron bowl....

This is the bias towards bama that I hate ....

 

Only good thing related to the Heisman is Nissan turns out some good commercials with their Heisman House promotion

 

ESPN awarded it during the SECCG. The award is a damn joke now.

 

Kenneth Walker should have been a finalist as well (even though I can't stand MSU).

 

Armstrong at UVA should have been in the conversation. That dude put up huge numbers.

 

Hutch wasn't even the best defensive player, Will Anderson had more sacks and twice as many tackles for a loss.

 

Stats aren’t all you can look at. Anderson is a LB, Hutch is a DL and almost had the same stats. Simply an apples to oranges comparison.

You truly think Bryce Young deserves the award when you put him up against the likes of Joe Burrow, Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, Matt Leinart as other QBs that won the award?

 

No, but those guys aren't playing this year. He's fortunate that the compition is weak and somebody has to win it.

He has done what he did this year with a weak offensive line too.

Both Young and Anderson are sophomores and will be back next year.

Bama has struggled at times due to youth and inexperience but they have raw talent all over the team and seem to be growing fast, may be even better next year.

Bama had many top players injured this year including a LB that was opposite Anderson and just as good.

Football is big in Alabama like basketball is in Kentucky. Players want to play here for that reason, not just Saban. Alabama has for decades been a NFL jumping on school. If you're the best you want to play where you're appreciated, will receive notoriety and play on national TV.

 

Decades? Saban has been there for less than 15 years, and Alabama was atrocious before he showed up. Come on now.

Bryce Young wasn’t impressive this season. He’s a plug and play system guy at Alabama playing with first round talent. If they weren’t going to give it to a defensive player (a lineman, no less) that had a GREAT season, they never are. It’s a joke.

 

Guess you never heard of a guy name Paul Bryant.

 

Bingo. This is why Donald wins in the NFL. It’s simply amazing the stats he puts up as a DL because he HAS to blow by someone head to head. A DE or LB can edge rush or shoot a gap. The comparisons aren’t even remotely similar.

Fellow named Gene Stallings coached at Bama and won the title in 1992. The Bama defense that year was one of the all time great defenses in ncaaf history.

Will Anderson is a LB, not a DE. He is expected to have higher stats in that regard.

 

Anderson often lines up at DE with his hand in the dirt.

 

Yet he's still a LB...

In addition, Hutchinson came back for his senior season with something to prove and is arguably the heart of the team, especially with Ronnie Bell going out in game 1. It has been pointed out many times that Hutchinson and Ojabo are the best pass rush duo in the country.

 

Remember the two seasons with dubose, franchione and a pair of Mike's in Price and Shula. That was barely 20 years ago......it will be quite the shock to many when the new coach can't live up to the previous one.

 

I guess you're right, Alabama's had a few bad years between their 18 national titles. How many does Michigan have? Less than say The Ohio State?
