See how there is a caped off square behind the shifter? That's where yours comes out of. Mine is moved forward due to the auto being a longer transmission than the r150

 

Can a forward shift tcase be made to work on our trucks?

Now I'm confused. I recall reading that all 1st gen tcases are top shift.

 

Yep, forward shift. There's also an actuator on the back dude.

Not sure, but I think it might be possible by swapping shift rails.

 

You can also tell it's longer than the one I posted a pic of Monte.

So probably is a multi mode after all. Maybe one of the earlier ones that had a J shift with a separate center diff lock button.

Well shit. I guess it is a multi mode. Thought it wasn't. You're right though, it is clearly longer. I've read it's about 3'' longer than a standard one or so.

 

Yeah, that's definitely a different actuator than is on my regular push button case.

Also, go measure it so we know the difference in length.

 

Thats with the end of the tape on the machined surface of the T case that mounts to the tranny.

 

If it is a multimode I wonder how it's supposed to bolt to the R150 with the forward shifter. Be interesting. Know it possible though.

 

Well that answers that and confirms the 3'' theory.

 

I believe it is a multimode, has the actuator from one at least. I think you'd have to swap the shift shafts from a top shift tho. Probably not worth it.

Not worth the hassle for you anyways as you'd have to wire it up right other wise you'd only have 2wd, AWD, 4Lo. Never 4 High.

 

Pretty sure you couldn't lock the center diff at all without the right wiring and computer. Permanent AWD with low range.
