We have one that shows up once in a blue moon because it’s not as efficient.
However, with hard pack and ice, nothing beats it..

    Morning all:
That looks like PENDOT Mike, all they need to do is mention a snowflake and they are out brining every road around.

ITS OVER, my buddy never got a chance at a buck in 9 weeks of hunting, on to flintlock in a few weeks.

WOW, looking at the tornado damage in KY, they are predicting over 100 dead and the damage is unreal, thoughts and prayers to all those who were in its path.

Glad to hear you're okay. I read that one tornado stayed on the ground for 200 miles! That is incredible. Thoughts and vibes for everyone impacted.

That storm line is due to arrive here shortly. Winds are up already. Radar seems to show that it lost some of its punch, but we're still in for a bit of weather.

You folks all hang on tight.
It's hard to fathom all that damage when it should just be snow season starting!

Good morning fellow Porchies and congrats to Navy.

Lots of rain and wind here yesterday - a few thunderstorms along the way but we never lost power.

    Stay safe out there!

    Morning
    On a mission this morning.
Pulled names for Christmas and I got my boy.
Bought him a portable air tank last month so he could blow up his equipment
On the fly. So today running down the street to get a push mower that won’t run.
Going see if I can get it going before Christmas. Clean it up and give it to him.
Not going to spend 250 or 300 bucks on a limited use mower for a few rock filled
Sections he can’t get to with the rider. If it can last a few years before the crank breaks it’s a win. Plus I’m a little antsy… still waiting for the Guy with the ice auger.. He’s going to be so disappointed.

19 degrees this mrning and it's been warming up.

A found a guy that wants to pour the floor in my pole barn on Friday. I'm wondering if it's too cold. I don't want to do the floor and find out it's flawed and has to be redone. Has anyone poured concrete in cold temperatures? I'd sure appreciate some opinions.

Concrete will take longer to cure but you can speed up the process by sealing the building and using space heaters. Tough decision to make and you do have to make the call. Good Luck.

Another laid back day at home. Clean the gutters on the house and finish up the weekly laundry. Beef short ribs in a Dutch oven for dinner tonight.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! Overall good day at the house Saturday. Wife vacuumed out the bottom of the 'frig while I ran errands; came back to empty it out - and she made 90% of the noise go away! Once I emptied the ice overflow again, that was it for the noise - it has shut up since then! Maybe I can find a way to fix the fill shut off, which has never worked. Maybe.

Decided we would finally bring in the big fruit harvest since it was going to freeze. My mini-orchard has only been there since late spring, and we had exactly 3 each Key limes (already in), Myers lemons, and Valencia oranges. Everything's the right size, but the oranges never finished "oranging", or maybe they will look like that. We'll see when she uses one.

And in the really good news, my insulation work in the greenhouse really did its job last night. I never could catch the little pilot light I have showing me the heater was on, but the temperature App told me it worked exactly to the temps I have set (45 on, 52 off).

    [IMG][IMG]

All in all a good day. And, thoroughly enjoyed the Army-Navy game as well.

Builders rent concrete "blankets" to cover a pour. They're various widths, 4-6" thick, various lengths, and usually used for freezing protection overnight, or at least until the concrete sets up. Some say they won't pour below 30° regardless. I tend to agree. If anything froze, it would be a time-consuming, expensive cleanup, re-set. I've seen them on commercial and residential footers, flatwork this time of the year. I imagine they can be expensive to rent, bulky, heavy, awkward to work with, transport, etc.

Thanks, I read the information in your link and it sounds well reasoned. I have to damp down my wishful thinking impulse.

    Afternoon all:

I don't know how cold it was, but I don't think it was that cold when they poured the floor in my garage. They added calcium to the concrete because of the low temperature and it turned out OK.

Frig making noise… could be ice buildup interfering with the fan. Defrost cycle inefficiency over time ice continues to build up. Repositioning the sensor does the trick. Could also be drain hole frozen over, fix for that is to wrap bare copper wire around defrost heater coil to extend down into the drain. No money spent.

    Evening all:
Don't know how I missed it, looks like Al Unser Sr. passed away. I actually saw it in a cartoon where he was driving a Indy car through the pearly gates at a high rate of speed!
RIP Al, always enjoyed watching you at Indy.

OMG Al Unser did pass, on December 9. RIP Al! I will never forget reading about him and his brother racing their motorhomes up some mountain while the journalist in Al's unit hung on for dear life. The Unsers are racers to their core.
