Yeah, I thought the same. Unless he's driving something much older because nowadays about everything is metric:notsure:
And then so much newer stuff isn't as easy as one might think about their domestic vehicles. To change a battery on 2010 GM Equinox had to remove a bunch of chit that was on top of it then a access panel after that.

I hate the vehicles you have to take off the front tire or open panels in trunk to get to battery:annoyed:

You could get an OEM for $260 and shipping:

142k is low. At least as a limiting factor in alternator performance.

I have low mechanical ability and I was able to very easily change my alternator in my 4.0. If I were you, I wouldn’t let your friend work on the truck again.

Not looking forward to replacing the battery in my ford transit. Battery is under the drivers seat. More difficult than it sounds, easy way to smash the hell out of my hands.

Same here with a couple local places that have an online parts side of their business. It's always worth looking up dealers in your area and see if that's part of their company.

One of my Christmas light sets no longer works, and no Home Depot within 20 miles of me seems to have them in stock, so I'm gonna have to get creative...

My brother in law's dad had a Chrysler 300..fairly new but I forget the year. Battery in trunk. That's one thing, but it had no key access to the trunk. So if the battery totally croaks, how do you get in there to jump or change?

Do the rear seats fold down? Charger's have a way to open the trunk w/o the battery on - figure a 300 wouldn't be very dissimilar.

most cars will offer a jump spot (batt pos) under the hood somewhere when the battery isn't in the engine compartment.

At the very least you can usually find a positive stud in the fuse box somewhere, and then get the trunk open for battery access

My neighbors have a 300C and ran the battery down in winter, there was a post under the hood for me to hook my little battery booster to.

My neighbor's in-laws (now in-law since the father died of COPD) had a 2005 Chrysler 300C with the battery in the trunk; The kids missed the bus one time a few years ago, parents were both at work, and the Chrysler had a dead battery, so I jumped the Chrysler...

The late father-in-law actually hooked the jumper cables to two points under the hood if I remember correctly, but the battery wasn't definitely in the trunk.

My neighbor drove that 300C over the snow l had piled up and got stuck in my yard last winter, had to drag him out with my truck. He also managed to get his Equinox and Silverado stuck in my yard all in about a weeks time.

All very possible..I never actually looked at the vehicle or lifted the hood, it just sounds like a stupid idea to not at least have a keyed trunk in this case.
