265/70/17. They seem great in the snow but yeah, surprised they slid for the minimal conditions. Maybe next time I’m ready for tires I’ll do more research but these have an extreme winter weather rating. Maybe there was more ice than met the eye as well. Thanks.

As far as psi, your adjusted recommended pressure is 37 psi for that particular size and load rating. Tire manufacturers recommend a 35 psi minimum for LT rated tires. At 32 psi you have a 740 lb reduction in tire load capacity, which translates to about a 500 lb reduction in GVWR. I would not go below 30 psi; that would be a 1,036 lb reduction in tire load capacity and about a 750 lb reduction in GVWR.

I wrecked a truck like that. Accelerate into a turn and weight comes off the front end. Hydroplane.

Someone told me to imagine the truck on a fulcrum with weight and traction shifting around. This was really helpful. [IMG] images_7c99b4906a0e5d743ff584a86fb9fb375d6f6bd4.jpg

Learning how to drive really helps in cases like this and many others. I grew up riding/crashing dirt bikes and flat tires wouldn’t ruin our day we learned how to ride on a flat, over/under steering all that good stuff. Once I got my license and started riding bikes on the street you learn to watch everything within a quarter mile radius or more. You have to be part of your vehicle, no matter what it might be, can’t just be along for the ride.
