Diff issues 3rd Gen

I know if I was having bad luck with a Toyota, Fiat would not be my next step.

 

After owning a Dodge dart, FCA would not be on MY list.

 

2021 trd off rd had my rear diff replaced about 3k miles ago new one whines as bad.just accepted junk for what it is.

 

That pretty much sums it up what my buddy said about his 2019 trd or when he owned it. Gotta be just the nature of that trim or toyota is just pumping too many of them out, that the qc has gone down.

 

yep and dumba**es like me continue to buy them.

 

Get some 5.29s if you really wanna hear her sing

 

i bought my 2016 tacoma TRD off road new and never had any of these issues. i have not had a single issue out of my tacoma. now has 133k miles

 

I had a 66 gto that was a drag car with a 12 bolt that had 4.56 zoom gears in the rear end. Should of heard that howl.

 

I'm currently saving for this since I have a 2.5in lift, 33's, and a bunch of armor slowing me down. Is it that noticeable? If it's going to make my truck any louder I might have to abort my mod plans lol. Was thinking 5.29s would be the solution but don't want any more noise.

 

They're all gonna be different I think. My rear diff with stock gears made a little noise, the 5.29s I got make a little more noise but mostly just at highway speeds. The difference the gears make with shifting and power are definitely worth a little howling from the diff imo

 

2017 TRD OR here, no problems.
sucks to have troubles, but one or two diff issues don't make a line of vehicles unreliable.

You should get a jeep, so that you can see the reliability you are missing with toyota and then come back to toyota. The lesson will cost you a bit, but I feel everyone should do this.

 

I will buy a jeep (when I can afford repairs)

I think I will be fine with this diff and its just whiny by nature

 

i believe it is way more than one or two with the issue

 

I don’t believe there’s hardly any issues with it, otherwise there would be a recall. I haven’t heard of any failures, just people getting them replaced with the howl still coming back.

 

Maybe it is just normal... this is the only issue (if it really is an issue) my truck has almost 60K on it (My Dads has 270,000 on his yes I am not joking) and no issues other than my rear end... maybe I am just OCD and its no big deal
