I'm in MA and hoping I don't regret not getting a fatty for the snowy months. Have a spare set of aluminum rims I may throw some 2.6" studded tires on to see if it can hold up - have some groomed trails near me (west hill dam) that look like they would be fine. May have to slowly hibernate into the basement on the trainer to get through it this year.

Trying to figure out if the studded tire route will work and how much snow will slowly over power the tires. +/- $180 per tire is a steep price tag on a hope.

I try to do research on everything I buy, and if I can get non slaveshop stuff I will.
Bike from Canada, Cookware and Stethoscope for wife's Christmas Belgium and USA.

That's why I'd buy those RideNF pants if I could get a pair, I'd cry a little bit, but $180 for good pants made in North America seems very cheap. At least for the amount of time they have making them to $$$ they're charging.

As far as my day to day clothes I'm sorry, but they may always be made by slaveshop kids. I don't usually pay more than $10 a shirt and $10 a pair of pants at costco.

I think I’ve ridden at west hill dam, my parents live in Walpole so I plan on getting some riding at adams farm while I’m up there over Christmas!

I’ve ridden 29x3 in the snow (not groomed) and they aren’t bad. Definitely better than skinnier tires. Luckily I can get the tire pressure super low without issue. I’d imagine studs would only be helpful in super hard pack. Like I imagine studs wouldn’t help on groomed fresh snow.

Origin by chance? If so I’d love to hear your opinion. Not affiliated but similarly looking for American made boots. If not curious what you bought/think.

Seconded. I've had my eye on a set to replace my Chippewas.

Sure thing. I picked up some Thorogood work boots. Danner is also a USA option although with both brands you need to seek out the Made is USA models. They have specific Made in USA product lines

I was going to say I have a pair of cheapo ones I'll send you for the cost of shipping, then I kept scrolling and saw the bike you just got and wasn't sure you'd let some basic ass pedals disgrace it. Anyways, offer stands. PM if if you want more details or pics or anything.

What size are you looking for? I have a 2018 Transition Scout that's about to go up for sale. Size medium, great condition, couple wheel/tire options based on desired budget.

So is this gone? Dang would have jumped on that!

In general, it is frowned upon when people ride skinnies on the trails in winter. They tend to leave ruts that later freeze and ruin the trails.
However, most trails are public, so you can always do what ever you want. :)
Best rule of thumb for any bike on the snow, if you're leaving deeper than a 1/2" to 3/4" rut, or if it is above freezing, its not the day to be riding.
Your best bet for studded skinnies is after a melt freeze, you will be good on the iced up trails.
No snow in the forecast, so with the short days, I'm down in the basement on the trainer with the fat bikes quietly waiting in the garage.

I’m hoping to get some of the origin pants for Christmas haha. If not I’ll order some. Pretty exciting seeing them trying to push made in USA. Plus they are from Maine and I’ve got some family ties to Maine.
