Was it mentioned the difference between the front runner bars and feet to the rsi bars and feet?

the front runner bars are listed as 45” long and 7/8” thick but not the width of the bar? The feet are listed as 1.5-2” tall. The bars look square ish While rsi has beveled edges. Any noticeable wind noise on front runner over rsi because of this?

rsi bars are 45” long, shy of 3/4” thick and width is shy of 3 1/4”. I don’t see how tall the feet are but it does seem substantially taller? The rating is higher on rsi than the front runner and cheaper but not immediately available

Any other differences that I’m missing? Any can fill in the blanks above? Any real world pictures of both and a close up on the feet? Thank you

These are comin'... just getting spooled up and testing a faster, more production-hardened process.

New version is CNC-milled, marine-grade HDPE construction which is UV stable, and won't warp or absorb water (same stuff as the Mountain Hatch if you're familiar). Should have plenty to sell in the coming weeks...

Anyone knows where to buy or the cost for a pair of solid doors like the ones on the Evo Adventure? I tried reaching out to smart cap a couple times and no response so far. Anyone willing to trade theirs in the so cal area (3rd Gen short bed) for the doors with sliding windows?

AFAIK RSI doesn't offer the doors separately. I think your best bet is to do what you just did, and try to find a member willing to trade.

Have some answers and more questions…
The rsi feet are 45mm and here is a spec sheet
    BD041427-47BD-4884-91B3-AF6A47F6B113.jpg
Still don’t know the width of the front runner bars but I was watching a video that showed the front runner with end cap removed and it was surprisingly thin compared to the alucab bars. No rsi to compare but I’m assuming since the weight rating is higher it would have a heavier gauge compared to the front runner?

Edit: I see the spec sheet I got was cut off on the bottom which looks like it had the thickness

Definitely like this over the 3d printed model. No gasket on this one, wouldn’t or couldn’t water still seep in? Obviously not as much and I’m thinking out loud here. Curious on price point also?

So I also did some digging into the locks because I think I’d prefer rubber flap cover so it also can’t be misplaced. Not that I thought I’d find a solution or answer when many before I’m sure tried.

here’s what I knew- the keys have a furnlock logo, that’s it. Looked it up and there are 2 versions of this pressure lever lock. Small-2960 and large 2970. Problem is our locks dimensions don’t match either. Closer to the 2970 and only smaller by 6x7mm. They also have slight difference in the push button but I did find a seller that had identical locks under the brand name badger and pt# (lock2970) huh same 4 digit too. At this point I already contacted furnlock waiting for a reply about covers. Was informed our “badger” lock is their lock (made to spec for whoever I guess) and they do have covers in production (we were talking about the 2 locks they offered on site at the time 2960/70) which are projected Jan/Feb 22. I asked if our slightly smaller version of 2970 would be compatible and was told yes.
I also at the same time was talking with rsi (for warranty- adding name to lock list) they would contact when price and release date are known. he was under the impression their supplier hasn’t been able to supply a suitable cover for the locks though.

I’m not really interested in new locks that you can open from the inside since I wouldn’t need it or use it (don’t want to pay for something I’m not going to use). So I think I’ll be staying in contact directly with furnlock for cover updates

take any of that for what it is

I haven't had any issues with water seeping in, and we've had some pretty heavy rain here in Washington. Water has a high surface tension compared to other liquids/solvents so it tends to bead rather than flow/wick. In addition to that, there is a rubber surround on the lock mechanism which provides a barrier that is more than sufficient.

Haven't settled on a price point yet as I'm still working on the process, and figuring out exactly how much time it will take to make these at rate. There is quite a bit of assembly involved but I'm making some tools to help with that. I'm a manufacturing engineer by day and I'm confident I can get the per unit rate down to a reasonable time. Milling is going to be way faster than printing though (I have 2 printers, and one mill and it's night and day). The quality will be there as well, HDPE is a very robust material!

I would be open to trading the passnger side since I have the storage cubby on the driver side. Im sure you want both, but just figured I would throw out the offer.

Without reading all 107 pages, is the consensus on these don't bother if you live in a cold climate? Sounds like there's a revision in the works, is that already updated on new caps and it's just people with older ones waiting for replacement parts?

It sounds more like the new locks will be an upgrade as in for purchase. I don’t think I’ve seen mentioned or not if new canopies get the upgrade when available or not. I’m also not sure if the upgrade actually addresses the freezing or not or if it’s just to allow internal lock/unlock capabilities. based on my post above on my conversation with 1 customer service rep they don’t even have word on a suitable cover (which would address the freezing imo).

But also mentioned above with 1 customer service rep from the actual lock manufacture they have covers in production and projected Jan/Feb 22. There also looks to be a good solution hard cover in the works from a member here.

so far as i know, there's no official word from RSI. anything regarding revisions is speculation at this piont.

which is a bummer. the covers/ice part i could work out, but i do intend to sleep in mine and i'm not really wanting to buy a cap i can't open from the inside.
