Glad to hear I'll be able to count on ice with my camp cocktails, and no dead batteries.

Only the finest of glamping. I'm going to try to reuse my Duracell and see if it is up for the task, its only a 60 Ah though.

Figured an update is in order while I'm here in case you didn't follow my trip thread.

Truck kicked ass on my full-time, 4.5 month, 14.5k mile road trip this summer. Has lots and lots for new scratches and a new dent to show for it. Did replace the fan clutch along the way, but other than that, had zero issues.

Don't have anything on the list for this build currently, so back to work on the 1st gen it is. Although it might be temping to swap the 285/75r17s over. :D

Couple of my favorite pics of the truck.

Problem is it's already slow as hell. Would need some 4.56s. Which would probably also involve a front locker. Not sure I'm ready for that rabbit hole.

No way. If I want a fast car I'll buy another turbo, awd, manual daily.

Speaking of, if the GR Corolla is what they say it will be, I might need to buy my first new car. :D

That's literally what I'm waiting for, only new car I'd ever buy. Wish we could've gotten the GR Yaris but hopefully the Corolla is just as sick

I can. My dad thought that. It did not work out for him.

Ended up with every power mod he could find practically.

Finally went to 4.56s, and bam. Fucker actually MOVES now.

Was it a 1st gen automatic, by chance? For that use case, I would say yes, you need gears.

    Nope.

    08 tacoma with auto.

If that's not enough, I took that lesson and regear Frank first and then boosted after. So glad I did. With gears it felt alive and could haul ass up hills. I could really drive it. Added boost and then it just pulls all the way to redline now where it would taper off after 3500 before.

Boost is not the answer. Unless you want to burn a lot more fuel I guess and pay more for it. Gears first, every time.

I'm sure a blower would be fun, but this thing is woefully undergeared currently. 5th gear is pretty much useless. Don't even bother trying to hold 80 on the interstate even if it's damn near flat.

Gears are the answer. And cheaper, and I don't need to pay extra for gas.

I couldn't resist. :D Plus the Kendas weren't that impressive in the snow, but turns out the Coopers may be worse. Oops:rofl:

Regardless, I think these wheels look much better on this truck than the 1st gen, and the truck looks right with the 34s. TRD fakelocks will be for sale in a while once they're done being rollers for the other truck.

Now to decide on 4.56s or 4.88s.

Did a quick CMC and some other light trimming, but looks like I'll be getting into the pinch weld as well.

Haven't got there yet, and it will be a couple months before I'm ready to sell.

From what I've seen, they're going for well over $1k a set these days. That being said, mine have a lot of rock rash on the rings. Was going to look to see if I could source new rings and hardware before selling them.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I can see you in a Yaris ;)

4.88s all the way. I love my 4.88 with my 285s.
