Hello all, I am sure this was has been asked a million times but each time I read about this I seem to come up short on the answer I am looking for. I just purchased an 2011 Tacoma Access Cab 4x4. It has steel rims currently on it (See Pic). I also just purchased 2021 take off Rims and tires. I got a killer deal on them and they have 6 miles on them. I have read where I need to change out the lug nuts. If so, what specific lug nut do I need? Also, Do the OEM TPMS sensors on the Gen 3's with the alloy rims have rubber stems or aluminum? I am trying to figure out if the tires have TPMS sensors but they have rubber stems. Thanks for all your help. Take it easy on me... I've only owned this Tacoma for 72 hours. lol

    Congrats on the new truck!

    Lug nuts are the same.
3rd gen TPMS don't work on 2nd gen

Lug nuts are not the same. Will need lugs for tacoma alloy wheels.

You will need Mag style lug nuts for the new wheels.

The TPMS sensors from the 3rd gen will not work on 2nd gen. Additionally, the sensors from the steel wheels will not fit well on the alloy wheels. In short, you will need new sensors. Specifically, for 2nd Gen Alloy wheels.

Going for the same setup on my 2012 access cab prerunner, those rims seem to be a great option all the reply’s here seem to be true.
Wondering if you made the update yet and if so would you let me know where you got the sensors?
