I’m seriously considering this. And yes, my MC setup is still in the box.

    :anonymous:

I like everything about what NWF is going for with this technically, and my feelings about MC and their ability to support the TacoBox are pretty much in line with Brian’s comments above.

^ This. I am excited about a new company in this space and currently have the means to do it, so I want to support their product and participate in helping them develop it. Thinking back to my experience two years ago when I spoke on the phone Marlin employees to try to get the adapters I needed from them, I can't tell you how much of breath of fresh air it was speaking with Kris at NWF yesterday. Not only was he polite, and informative, but when I told him I had the 6sp manual, he actually knew how many f'ing splines there are on the input, which was in stark contrast the the "experts" at Marlin. Ok, sorry...I'm done shitting on them at least for the moment.

I don't think it would be hard for either of us to sell our marlin setups. Hell they might be worth even more now than before since they are no longer being made.

I would think someone has put a 4th gen 4unner case in a 2nd gen?

I would also think the detroit would make it worse for general snowy driving.

Better than just one wheel spinning. Just need to stay steady on the throttle when cruising and the locker doesn't engage.

Ive read that it was in 98-99 that was the only years it was a J shift multi mode. So I guess you'll find out. I have one either way and will be making a trip south in a couple weeks so could do a hand off if needed. Part me hopes it is as I really want to put a multi mode in my SX single cab haha

Should be do able, just the wiring that could be tricky. I know on the 1st gens with a 3rd gen t4r multimode its not too bad as the 4wd computer is separate. Not sure if that's the case with the 2nd gens..

Would not recommend a detroit for snow stuff. you want slip, in fact that is way AWD is better than just 4wd in slippery snow conditions. But you should and can just run 4wd when its bad out. I do it all the time.

Pretty easy to interrupt the signal on the electric ADD actuator to have 2 lo also. Front shaft will still turn but no power to the wheels.

Sorry Monte, just a regular old push button, non multi mode case. Perfect donor.

    Nice score, Brett.

I’ve been looking at car-part.com and there isn’t much out this way that isn’t over $200.

I haven't priced 1g stuff, but I paid 200-$250 per FJ case on my 2g so that doesnt sound too bad. Just do it!

While I dont expect prices to sky rocket, I wouldnt be shocked to see the price of some of these donor cases go up by $50-$100 in the next 12-18 months.

    Stuff and junk and things...
I got my 5thgen/FJC manual shift VF4 for $80, it's got a possible bent output flange but I don't need that for the NWF case.

There is a shocking amount of them out there, so I suspect it'll take a while for EcoCrawler demand to actually shift the market. Wouldnt be any worse than covid tax...

That said, toyota is still producing J-shift VF cases in the 4 runner trail and TRD Pro's, so it's not like were chasing cases that are even obsolete yet.

    Lame, I know!

Need to see how capable it is after adding the crawlbox and 35s, plus not giving a shit, and then I'll reevaluate. Just keep going back and forth on how much use I would really get out of a build on tons n 40s.
