A PHEV Tacoma would be pretty awesome. I could transfer my existing camper over as long as they don't change the bed much.

    Sad but true :(

Many reports with the Rivian getting 1/3 the range while towing and when they tested it in Baja. Also that Lords Town Motorsports truck which they raced at the San Filipe 250 desert race (SCORE event) got way less range then they anticipated on the race course. They actually intentionally withdrew ,mid-race ,so they would not run out of charge on the track and block the course for other racers.

Additionally, EV truck may suffer from massive weight gain which is obviously not good on suspension and tires off road.

I've made a few post about this, but with my Tesla I can easily see my range drop to 1/2 by driving hard on the roads or going on trips up to the mountains with so many ups/downs. I will say that I can usually find a charger near by ,and then juice back up . So I guess besides the inconvenience of always recharging ever 100miles you are saving on gasoline and maintenance and not breaking transmissions or waiting for your T-case to allow you to shift into low range. If you don't like "go fast" off roading then I think your range will be much much better. So like slow crawling, trails , overlanding (with out a lot of gear) at lower speed can easily see more range.

IDK it's hard to say with a truck. So many Cons (shitty range, heavy) but also so many Pros (fast, no need to buy aftermarket skid plates, 1/1000 less parts and things to break)

...I guess with my Tesla it's def not all peaches and cream like they say... but in comparison I would never buy a regular gas car again.

    ehhhhh yes and no.

I think for many off roaders ya that's "false". You will probably get like 150-200 miles off road range? But if you are into pre-runner type beating, then yeah that 30 miles is not even an exaggeration sadly :( . pedal to the metal in dirt and sand dune will see massive range drop for sure.

    Towing? maybe 100-200 miles.

driving like grandma on the streets? 300 miles range.

again just applying what I hear from Rivain , and how my tesla behaves (not a truck obviously)

The Tesla I drove definitely lost range quickly with constant passing, hard starts etc. but from the reviews and data and Rivian it all depends on what 'hitting the dirt' means. Constant under acceleration and constant climbs with spinning wheels you will see faster charge depletion but Rivian went 8 hours on the trans america trail before charging. If you can't add or subtract you shouldn't be buying an EV especially hard offroading without charging plans. But the post referenced is just misleading to me.

Interesting news this morning from Toyota. I am intrigued. I'm not sure I'm ready to go 100% EV at this point, but I could see a hybrid Tacoma. Other than the grille, it looks good. That grille is horrible.
I have a deposit on a Rivian, but I can easily transfer that to an R1S for the wife.

The million dollar question...hard to say and it can be debated until we're both blue in the face. I'm sure we have differing opinions so before it gets too far I'll bow out.

I will say that every "solution" has its negative, whether it be wind farms taking up large amounts of land or nuclear creating radioactive waste for 1000s of years.

    pro and cons of each.

I like the look of it, way better than that "cute" Rivan.
