Advertised pricing restrictions have nothing to do with final sale price. Often times this is just a brand image thing. That's why you see those things that won't show you the price until you put it in your cart. And why you can often get steeper discounts over the phone vs online.

 

They need to honor their sale price.

 

He paid though already so theres not much ground for them to come back on and say he owes more money after awhile especially to notify him he still owes more money.

 

Completely agree, I was just pointing out that the vendor saying minimum advertised pricing changed is BS. They can sell for less than that price if they want to.

 

Except that, ultimately, they can always simply issue a refund and say sorry not sorry...

 

Why don’t you all use TW vendors? There are a reason they have a vendor status here. I see so many posts about shitty customer service just in this thread. Just a question?

That is fine if they raise prices... However they need to honor the price they sold it to you for, especially since I'm assuming you paid with a credit card. If it is a problem simply ask for your money back. If they refuse it is a simple dispute with the CC company. Seller then needs will be dealing with the CC company and federal laws that they have no options but to follow.

 

There is something called "Map Pricing" that basically means that a specific manufacturer (in this circumstance, ARB) will have specific pricing guidelines that can not be violated by the sellers. Violation of those guidelines can cause the seller to lose their permission to sell anything from said vendor. It is done to ensure their "Brand" is not devalued by competing sellers.

I have a feeling another seller complained to ARB about this seller undercutting them by selling it under MAP pricing. In turn ARB probably contacted the seller and now the seller is trying to fix its f-up. That being said, you have few options. It is an asshole move, however their legal obligation is to refund you. It's doubtful you will bring legal action against them for false advertising and it would cost far more than 100 compressors. Your only recourse is to contact BBB (BBB is a joke and does not penalize the business) or to blast them on forums, yelp, etc in an effort to hurt their business via lost revenue. Had they given a fuck about their brand, they would have paid the difference to ARB for their error to keep their customers happy.

PS-all purely speculation from my experience running large scale retail locations.....I'll see myself out.

Yea they pulling this bait and switch. I’m sorry for dragging others down this path. Thought it was a good deal, but maybe was too good to be true. I asked for a refund given 2 weeks after the payment processed I will not want to buy anything from this company ever again. They can either honor their price or refund but to ask a customer to pay the difference is absurd. If I buy full price it will be from another vendor.

As far as why not follow TW vendors, well not everyone has learned this lesson yet…all in the pursuit of saving a couple bucks. This time it backfired
