Hey y'all. Had the idea earlier to build a cigar starter kit for my family's Yankee swap this year (white elephant etc).

I'm thinking of almost something like this.

I'd love some feedback from y'all on anything. I'm looking for something that's doable for someone who doesn't smoke and wants to have it or someone who smokes cigars semi regularly and would still want to give it a whirl. Also would add a few cigars on top of it too.

Already planning to ditch the lighter and do a zippo with a butane insert.

My 2c is that may be a good for someone who already is fully into smoking cigars and has a home humidor, not someone who doesn't smoke, or only smokes occasionally.

 

How people in your family smokes cigars? If you don’t think or know that no one smokes then, no. If you have a couple of them that do and they are not big time smoker, then yes. Since chance are they will swap gifts.

 

We got a good snow last night, about 10” and the ski mountain got 25”.
The temp is 23 with a wind chill of 10, but on the back porch it’s really nice, just pants and a sweatshirt having a nice cigar and bourbon

Trying the Maduro version of my favorite smoke. I think it’s overly humid, had it sitting in a bag with 2 glycol sticks while I was reSeasoning my box. Was hard to light/keep lit. Got 4 more to give another go now that the box is close to set. Flavor wise, less sweet than their lighter counterparts, but hard to get a real flavor profile because I keep needing to overheat it to keep it lit and getting acid tastes.

 

looking forward to tomorrow, I have 3-4 friends coming over for our Cigars, Whiskey and Pizza afternoon.
Not sure I have said this before, thinking I did. When covid hit and people where staying home, a group of us would get together for Cigar, Whiskey (Bourbon here) and pizza. We made a rule, no political or religious talk and since about Aug of 2019 we have never run out of shit to talk about. I dont see it stopping.

 

Never tried a Japanese whiskey

 

Suntory is good. If you like blended whisky they have Suntory Hibiki too.

 

This one is super delicate & light. Low proof of 86 means it has no heat. Not my favorite but the FIL was passing it to me so what the hell.

I like me some Hibiki when I can find it for the $60 retail price (Costco, once a year). I'm sitting on 2 of them now.

 

Been a while! Been super busy but found some time today to relax.
