I like it. That little FJ-looking thing looks cool too.

Depending on specs I'd take an EV truck in a heartbeat.

I always thought the Hilux had too much going on, design wise. I have been seeing them more often here in Japan. Could be its bubblier design, but it always reminded me of a Ridgeline.

If anything, I hope the improve the faulty fuel door of the 2nd and 3rd gen... So many people have had issues with the hinges bending.

I have 10 all the way around with 70 windshield now. Been considering 50 on the shield. But right now it’s not bad at all, never has been an issue.

when I had 2% on the back windows and doors with 15% front doors and 5% 6” strip I couldn’t see shit backing up unless there was plenty of lighting.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Can’t wait to see the price and range... e.g. $78,000 and 175 miles per epa estimate.

The render still shows a conventional 4-link rear axle, which means roaring diff and drive line shudder will give comforting affirmation that you're in a Tacoma.

It was ok up until 2019, the 2020 facelift it jumped on “who has the biggest grill” bandwagon.

The same way they do the engine noise in the new Subaru/Toyota twins, through the speakers. You'll be able to adjust clunking and howling noise via the screen settings :headbang:

The closer I look at it the more I am convinced that is just a 3rd Gen wearing a disguise, some fiberglass fenders with new Tundra headlights thrown in and a flat panel laying on top of the roof.

It's merely a concept. But it does bear resemblance to the new Tundra so it very well could be very close to what the new Tacoma will look like. I'm a fan.

Yeah besides the platform sharing with the Tundra, they will save money sharing headlights and tail lights and whatever else they can.

My issue with all these EVs is the battery situation. It's primitive, like before standardized tire sizes.

I used to drive 20-25 miles a day every day. Then I'd drive long distances on occasion, and need a lot more range.

Why should my car haul a full load of heavy batteries, good for 200+ miles, on days when I don't need them?

I think all these batteries need to be stored somewhere like a gas station: a big industrial charging setup, more efficient, and where emergencies can be avoided.

Every car needs to have the same standardized batteries, variable loadouts, and they need to change easily. What we do now with every car having its own battery is silly. ICE cars all have standardized batteries for everyone's convenience and economy. For over 100 years now! How are we missing this lunacy?

Maybe you only need the basic small battery Monday thru Friday, and you can charge it at home. If you need to take a Sunday trip, even suddenly, you just drive to any station within range along your way, open the hatch, and they swap in whatever batteries you will need to go until it's time to stop and have them changed. It's much faster than standing around charging, just to swap precharged batteries. You never have to own them. Maybe Blue Rhino owns and maintains all the batteries, and you just pay for the charge you use. If you charge at home, you only pay the power company.

Car home charging is an issue. Most car owners in the USA cannot do it. You need your own garage or secure carport. You can't charge on the street.

But right now, if you can afford a Tesla, you already have a house with garage, or a situation with leased parking indoors.

I will be impressed when they can make an electric car for people with fewer resources.

For electric vehicles to be viable for long-distance travel, the corded battery charging system has to be augmented or replaced. I think fuel cells would work. They power space ships and satellites. Exchange a standard form factor fuel cells like we do 20lb propane tanks and plug in 1-4 per vehicle. Convert gas stations to store them. Voila.
