It crazy warm day today for mid December. I think we'll break that record high from 1939 today.
I text the wife and ask her to think about if she's OK with me going to Michigan for month of February.
It gives me a break from the SOS here day in day out, plus $$$$$ above my regular.

    You remembered!
Yeah, I treasure that Marlin 39A.
They don't make 'em like that any more, and I mean that literally.
Too much hand finishing, too expensive.
If it was still made, it would probably list for over $1,000 bucks NIB.
(Not sure if you can still order one from the Custom Shop).

    https://www.guncritic.com/product/marlin-golden-39as/

Yeah, I might bring the Marlin along to shoot 100 yd gongs at the carbine range.
Mainly, I wanna shoot my AR-15 at the 200 yd steel plates at the main range.

Personally, I can't tell if the impact of a bullet on a steel plate sounds any different when cold out vs warm. :notsure:

    Which reminds me...

    Story Time With Gritto :)

When I shot competitive trap, there were guys who got way too absorbed in trivial crap.
Like density of air at different temperatures (cold air is denser), humidity, stuff like that.
Some would speculate on the effect on patterns...and even went so far as to try to test it.

Now, unless you're firing an artillery piece at long range...
...I think that ain't gonna make the slightest practical difference.
Considering 40 yards is the average distance at which a good shooter will break a target from 27 yard (max) handicap...
...you gotta be kidding me

Yeah, there are a lot of great pics in all the categories. Lots are more deserving than mine to be on a calendar.
