6112's 6th notch down to 5th. Ride quality?

Currently at the 6th notch on my 6112's with the Readylift top hat assembly. Considering going down to the 5th notch. Has anyone dropped from 6th to 5th and noticed enough of a ride quality difference to make it worth the effort? Thanks in advance

 

How much preload (in inches) do you have currently and what rate springs (in lbs-in) do you have? It would also be helpful to know your hub to fender measurements at ride height and at full droop.

 

i have to wait till I get my truck back from toyota to do any measurements. but this is the kit i got and it came preassembled and I just threw them on as they are pictured....

It doesn't specify the spring rate but im assuming its whatever comes standard with the 6112's. I know i am probably not much help right now tho haha

 

I know 3 trucks running 5 and 4. They all drive great and no Taco lean. Thread was sent to me but I can"t find it.

 

I’m running 4/5 and love the way it rides.

driving down the road is good and everything, stiff but a good stiff. but I have to basically stop going over certain speed bumps or it feels like a damn pogo stick bouncing

 

im assuming the readylift top hat isnt doing me any favors except for overall height of the truck

 

I think thread is finally 6112s for 3rd gen. Bilstien website has a chart for your vehicle, coils, weight,and notch setting for desired amount of lift.

 

Mine are at the 5th notch with the standard rate springs and rides great. I wouldn't think that one notch change would make that big of a difference.

What's your tire pressure at?

 

mostly just wanting to see if moving it one notch down would be noticeable at all in the ride. otherwise ill probably just leave it

 

i have 35in trail grapplers and 37psi was horrendous. backed it down to 32 and its been great

 

I would expect an improvement if you currently don’t have enough down travel otherwise no change at all, but we can’t know that without some measurements.

I agree that the spacer is not helping you out. I don’t understand why an adjustable coil over would come with a spacer. It’s like doing it the right way and the wrong way at the same time. Can it be easily removed?

 

I running 32psi in front 35psi in rear on Falken 33s.

 

Readylift designed it to run a true 3in lift with the 6112's although it seems like it could be a smidge over that after i installed them. do 6112's settle much?

 

I concur. Take the spacer off and do some measurements. From what I have read every truck is a bit different. I have a 2nd gen but my pals have 3rd gens and they run sweet.

 

Maybe the combo of the 6112s being maxed and the spacer lift on top is pushing the suspension geometry out of its rang to operate smoothly. How steep are your control arm angles?

 

i previously ran 36psi in my 33" ridge grapplers and they were very light duty passenger rated. These new tires are C rated i believe and wayyyyyyyyy heavier (ridge were 48lbs each up to 74lbs each on the new trail 35s).. Not sure if that means they will be a stiffer riding tire in any way. if that makes sense

 

Are your UCAs contacting the coil spring at full droop?

I have no experience with 6112’s nor the settling phenomenon people often talk about.
