I don’t want a complete headlight replacement, I just want a brighter, more efficient bulb. My truck is a 2018 that I bought new and always wanted more light. What’s a more effective bulb? Thanks

I didn’t read the 100’s of post on this but at this time I think I’ll get some H9 bulbs from the auto store, trim to fit and see if they perform. If I were younger I’d be more inclined to buy the factory upgrade kit and adapters for about $1,000.

I wonder if we had a lighting thread that talks about every possible choice

"fostering independence" what a noble enterprise... you're just being a dick.

Someone else even linked it above you.

Nope, its what we are taught to do in the medical field. Just like when a patients wife calls in for him, and hes sitting right there fully capable of making the call and talking. I don't need to talk to the wife I need the patient so I can assess them. Same principle.

Oh, I know, I saw the link

No need to trim to fit, if you insert one side (wide tab) first they will go in. No need to trim or adapter.

Bilstein 6112 front / 5100 rear (extended) shocks, Headstrong AAL, Firestone airbags, 4.88 gears, OME Carrier bearing drop kit, Aluminum 1/4" skids (engine to transfer). Custom sliders (1.75" HREW tube w/ 3/16" base plates). Custom front bumper and high clearance rear bumper (1/4" steel plate, 1.75" tube.) Apex 5500 winch w/synthetic line (36lbs) and required accessories for an underpowered winch (snatch blocks and extra line.) Tekonsha P3 brake controller, remote start, any-time-backup camera w/ front facing camera, Leer 100R shell (w/e-track single slot tie-down mounts for removable Yakima EasyTop.) Cat shields by CaliRaised. Husky liners, window tint, heated seat (passenger only.) Relentless bed rail brackets with QuickFists (shovel/axe/fire extinguisher.) Hondo Garage Un-holey vent mount. Anytime rear with front facing camera. Billet front seat risers. Viair 88p. 265/75r16 Goodyear Ultra-terrain tires.

That makes 2 of us. I upgraded just the bulbs and all it really "gained" is more pissed off subcompacts and low-riders immediately in front of me at night. (So no measurable gain in my opinion.) I was hoping for a better light throw but it's just hotter on the areas that were already lighted.

Really my only gripe with the stock SR headlights are that they throw zero light to the sides.. so a dark night at slow speeds with very twisty-turn roads I'm peering into the edges of the dark to see if I'm steering towards an impact.

Same here. I had to experiment with different fogs to get a better side lighting.

You quoted a post saying you agree 1k is too much, yet say just dropping in bulbs was shitty and you cant see? They are 1k for a reason, and the OEM LEDs are supposed to be one of the best. They handle the stuff you are looking to fix, but at a cost

LED H11's in my headlights and fog lights and adjust them down a little and they are perfect in my opinion. Now the 5th gen 4runner you def want HID instead of LED because it doesn't throw the light as well with the housings.

Interesting. I'll investigate adding fogs for better side lighting. Thanks.

Sounds like it'd be a LOT less than a thousand bucks.

Same here. When I first got my truck I was thinking 'Man, are my eyes getting that bad?' .. Until later I realized the headlights are ... Really lacking.
I really need the more light on the sides also. I spend more time looking for Bambi wanting to commit suicide with my truck than I do with what's right in front of me..
