Are you just going to run the wire through the bezel and have the GPS rest on dash above stereo?

My antenna cable was long enough to run it through the dash and up the side. My gps antenna is sitting on my dash by the windshield in the right corner. Blends in nicely and I connect to 15+ satellites easy.

Got some good news - my Joying 9" Android 10 is arriving on Wednesday! Being impatient and never having installed a new car stereo before, I took a look at the back of my OEM stereo to see what it looked like. Anyone know which of these will be the backup camera? Nothing is labeled! ugh....

The harness you get will be pretty much idiot proof, since everything is a different size.

The Joying came today and I was able to get it installed! Thanks again for everyone’s help!

I read every page in this thread but can someone remind me how to remove the C from temp on top of screen? Also, the apps are super small (someone else mentioned this too) and I don’t know how to change them back to normal size?

Update: I changed the vehicle from RAV4 to Camry and that allowed me to change the C to F and also to remove it completely, which I did since I couldn’t figure out how to get the temp correct

I changed mine from Camry to one of the others and got all my steering controls to work. I honestly don't care about the temp reading, I use the one on the cluster. Plus I mainly use CarPlay anyways.

My iPhone connects to CarPlay pretty quickly, but only if my phone is unlocked. I have found that I cant change back and forth between the Android main screen and the CarPlay screen because the WiFi connection only works on 1 at a time? CarPlay works great, but if I switch to the Android screen, I get the "no internet" message. I then have to go into the settings and manually connect to the stereo. Anyone else have this issue? Is this because I dont have a 4G sim card connected?

Weird, mine does not do this. Mine connects instantly, and I'm able to go back to the main page and adjust EQ/Settings if I need to.

Anyone know if you can force start CarPlay on the start?

I haven't been able to figure out how to auto-start CarPlay. I have to push the CarPlay button and it usually loads in about 10 secs. Not a big deal, but would be really nice to have option for it to auto start.

I figured out my connection issue - the stereo doesn't recognize my iPhone hotspot as being "in range". I have to go into iPhone settings and turn off then back on the hot spot button. I also have to go to Wi-Fi settings in stereo and go to saved connections and then push Connect. Its a pain, but I will be using CarPlay 95% of the time so not a deal breaker.

I might try to remove my iPhone from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the stereo and then re-add it (start the process of connecting my iPhone from scratch) to see if that fixes the issue.

Please let us know if you find a solution to the auto connect. I talked about the same issue earlier in this thread and it seems like so far everyone reporting has said that they have had to follow the same process you describe (turn off, back on and reconnect). Goodluck!

On the topic of connecting, while tethering I like to play videos for my son in the back on longer trips. Has anyone had success with Paramount Plus streaming successfully with their 1604gs 9" joying? I usually get a error code 6300. I tried trouble shooting, but the website does not list that error code and some of the usual restart the app/etc. don't seem to be working.

Also related, I haven't been able to get certain apps to download like Netflix or Disney+. Does anyone know how to get these apps on this device.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Ill try the Paramount Plus app, and I did notice that the Netflix app wasn't available in the Play Store when I looked for it (not sure about Disney + but Ill look for that too).

I think we might be able to "side load" these apps through a site like pureapk. These are not the "official" apps, but are apk files that look, feel, and act like the real apps.

I mean maybe I'm not using this headunit to it's full potential, but I mainly use it for CarPlay. Are there any other CarPlay capable apps I'm missing?

    Spotify (used daily)
    Gaia (used when offroad)
Waze (used for trips, tracking accidents and LEO)

I thought I had it figured out, but the videos on Disney+ and Netflix wont play. I was able to download and install them, but no luck getting videos to play. Ill keep trying...

Just gives me one more reason to hate all these damn streaming sites, with their locked down device access... Not that I'm advocating for piracy, but my Plex server has no problems streaming videos to my Joying unit.

Might be a memory issue, because I can’t get anything but YouTube to play.
