    Aren't basements damp and moist?

Sounds like a sub optimal place for a gun safe. Like putting one in your garage in FL. Stuff will rust in 10 minutes.

I don't know if you saw my post yesterday, but I just purchased a 29sf last Saturday and am looking at suggestions for better sights. Would love to hear your thoughts about the light laser combo. Can you see the laser while using the light or is it one or the other type thing?

Golden rod will make sure this doesn't happen. Also, my basement is finished and climate controlled so the golden rod is just for added peace of mind.

First, I am not affiliated in any way with this company, but I have not found anything better and the products they have are outstanding. Everything works as advertised and it is a no BS company.

SecureIT. I made a gun room and it is awesome! The more I looked at a new gun safe the more Tom's comments made sense. Gun safes are made to look great empty in the store. You Can NEVER get what they say in there and when you do everything is piled on top of each other. I got sick of it.

So no windows and what kinda door? Worried about fire at all? I do like the idea, but not sure it would stop thieves in my area.

Before i moved out of town onto 20 acres, i lived in town and my house was broken into once while i was at work. They stole damn near everything they could. Had an alarm, but they were long gone before anyone arrived. I had that same safe in a spare bedroom and they didnt even bother touching it. Guess they figured it would slow them down too much. Didnt even have it secured to the floor/wall. They even stole my plasma that was wall mounted into brick and that damn thing was near 170lbs, five foot off the ground. They were moving. Bastards.

Gotta be a hell of a door for the thieves we have around here. But i do like that idea.

No windows, I converted a walk in closet. I live in the mountains of WV on 28 acres with a 1/4 mile driveway and a locked gate. I am also retired LEO, so home all the time. Plus here most people understand they don't go walking around someone's property. Yes it makes a big difference where you live, you are exactly right. We have moved 10 times in the last 27 years for my career and we are finally here for the duration. Not really worried about fire, it could happen, but so can a lot of other things.

It just came down to the price of a new large safe and all my guns jammed in there did not make sense. However, like you said different people have different worries and thoughts on the subject.
