Yeah Asus 3080s/3080Tis/3090s there's whine. I've had two and both would/do sing the song of their peoples quite often. Someone told me it's because all the bulletproof capacitor layout they used. Those little capacitors squeal when they aren't perfectly in balance. That being said I'd rather have that then the 2-3 RMAs some EVGA/Zotac owners have gone through.

Having my first new computer in many years (this time last year), I was absolutely shocked at how quiet it ran. I have twice as many fans as my previous machine. And my system is (to me) whisper quiet!! I did turn up my GPU fan speed, to see if that makes a difference with some of my recent issues. And I still think it's pretty quiet.
I also listen to music most of the time I'm working, so I don't think I'd notice fan noise anyway.

I might be in the wrong thread but I'm a newbie. I'm looking to replace our awful old laptop with a new one but I'm also cheap. Any recommendations are appreciated.

First question I always ask in these situations: What do you plan to use it for?

For basic use (word processing / web surfing) ... my favorite super-cheap route for laptops is to find something that's gently used and upgrade the hard drive to an SSD (solid state drive). You might even be able to do this with what you've already got and see a substantial performance increase.

Chromebook. Solid platform, price can't be argued, Linux stability. My kids get them from school, and they just work.

Anyone looking for a 3080? I got the EVGA email for a
EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING, 10G-P5-3897-KL, 10GB GDDR6X, iCX3 Technology, ARGB LED, Metal Backplate, LHR

Only have a few hours left to order though. Would end up being ~$1100 with tax/shipping

I'm pretty sure the last system I built cost less than a GPU these days!

    Anyone need a $609 + shipping/taxes 3060ti? I "won" the shuffle today, but don't think I'll pull the trigger.

Has anyone upgraded to Windows 11? If so, would you recommend it to others or should we all hold off on upgrading?

Well, i haven't used Windows in years. But from past experience, every-other release sucks.

It's been fine going from 10 to 11. Some annoying parts, some good parts. It wasn't a huge overhaul like past version changes. I haven't run into any issues related specifically to windows 11.

So I'd say go ahead if you want

Windows 10 is the last version of Windows ever.

Because Microsoft never lies to us.
