Hey taco peeps. I have 17 with about 53,000kms.
Today my truck would not start. Everything lights up and ...click click click click....etc.
    Wont start.
The battery was at about 12v.
    I cleaned the posts.
    Still the same.
I now have a noco smart charger on it and it is flashing at 25%
Im assuming it is my battery???
What kind of battery are people replacing the stock with?
    Cheers.

Yes, your battery died. Expect a flood of opinions on what to get. Just remember, it's the internet.

Well thats what i recall seeing people replacing with. I wasnt sure if its overkill without a ton of aftermarket accessories. I have anytime back up cam. Thats about all i have wired in.

That’s about when my oem battery died. I just replaced it with a cheap one from autozone.

I got a red top Optima, in fact I have a few. In the last few years Johnson Controls (new owners) got cheap and moved their production to Mexico...well not just the factory went south...so did the quality. Two years ago I bought two red tops, one lasted 9 months then kaput. So it's hit and miss with Optima...
Back to the op, look at Optima but consider other AGM's too.

Same happened to my 17 while on vacation. Figured oem battery after 3 years would be toast. I went with an auto store AGM and have been good since. Now I keep a portable jump pack just in case.

Walmart batteries are the best bang for your dollar hands down. They also replace under warranty very easily.
If you live in super cold weather or your car comes with AGM Optima makes sense. Otherwise, save your money.
Most batteries (AutoZone, Advanced Auto, Walmart, Costco, Amazon) are all made by the same company anyway.

I went with a walmart EverStart one 2 years ago in my 17, still working like a champ. Run a decent mount of aftermarket electrical off it without any issues..so far.

I was going to go with one of those but I've heard that optima batteries are getting worse nowadays. Im sure they're still better than OEM though

Costco & Wal Mart have the best warranties that I know of....

This might be the winter that my '17 dies, so I carry around a 1500 amp mini booster pack. These little suckers actually work pretty darn good. I put it to good use last winter.

For those that have had short battery life: do you mostly drive your truck on short trips and infrequently?

My '19 is still on the factory installed battery and thinking of when it might fail.
