in all of your career what was the funniest, outrageous case? our local radio station does a daily skit they call "crazy criminals" of stories from across the US. people doing stupid shit and getting caught. leaves you wondering how they ever thought it was going to work out in their favor.

Off the top of my head, we had a commercial burglar who got stuck in an AC duct. He was naked and oiled up so he could slide inside the duct easy. Only problem was the 90* bend about 4’ down from the roof unit. He couldn’t go forward and he couldn’t push himself back. It was pretty funny to see his bare ass and legs sticking out of the duct up on the roof. He said he always wanted to do it ever since he saw the movie Die Hard. There was a lot of alcohol in his decision making that night.

Business alarm, the owner actually got notified by his system of a temperature rise and air handler problem. He called and requested a business check, the responding deputy could hear muffled yelling and banging. We originally thought the guy was above the suspended ceiling tiles. Once we figured it out we called Fire to assist with the extrication and to get him off the roof.

I’ve heard similar stories from other cops from all over, seems to be a regular occurrence. @Cuffs has probably got one too.
