Hest mattress dually - long. - problem solved. Seriously night and day difference, I can still fold it up and out of the way and since its easy to fold in half as well I can make sure it's staying dry under the mattress easier. Again, sleep quality is amazing. It fits perfectly is not too tall when you close the drifter.

Been trying to figure this out. Are you using this to secure the window on the back? I think this is keeping the lid closed right?

 

JUST saw your prior post. Is looks like it folds lengthwise rather than vertically. Can you easily push back the bed with this in place?

 

Yea you can fold it in half. It's just a piece of foam in a fancy wrapping (comfy foam though) - I've done it a lot no problem. I do have a short bed and apparently the drifter is a little more space overhung though. However.. its foam and a durable wrapping around it so just push it up there.

I think most that use the Exped Megamat DUO are doing so in the AluCab Canopy Camper which has a 54" wide mattress vs the 48" in most of the other wedges(in midsize configuration).

I have the narrowest Megamat I could find because it's just me and I didn't want to waste the money on the duo if it wouldn't fit. I can't confirm anything as I don't have my camper yet and just use it for rent camping for now.

its a spendy as quilt, which is built around the GFC so is 90 long and 80 wide. i got it for my wife for her birthday - she like to be cozy when sleeping and im a sucker for small businesses and people going for it and pursuing their dreams

best way to describe it is its like sleeping under a cloud, a really really warm soft cloud
for us we get rid of a couple cheap as comforters we used in the summer / milder temp camps and will back up our RAB sleeping bags in cold weather

 

I usually leave mine inflated how I like it to sleep on (about 90% from max). I don't try to fold it up inflated. I have a set of sheets ("full" size, fitted & flat).

I usually have the mattress placed where I sleep on it and don't move it. I only move the removable panel to the rear when closing up the Drifter and it slides under the mattress, but the edges are against the sheet.

I'd put on a fabric glove or use a microfiber cloth and run it along the edges where your mattress interfaces and see if there are any snags of metal that are causing the puncture.

I do have the Exped Megamat LW+ Duo and yes, it fits into the side channels and when inflated is very difficult to slide to/from the hinged part of the wedge.

 

That quilt does look comfortable and damn you weren’t kidding about being expensive. If I didn’t have a EE quilt I would consider it.

 

These are just my ideas. The puck lock pictured above would probably be best for securing the lid to the body by welding the mounts to the aluminum body of the Drifter/Nomad. Securing the rear window would be useless with a puck as someone could just break the glass.

 

@georginclay04 , do you find the Dually mattress to be much better than the stock Drifter? The wife and I tried out a Hest Duelly in REI and felt that the Dually wouldn’t be much better than stock. We tried the Hest sleep system (single) they have the inflatable portion plus the foam and that was the Bomb. I am not sure how to make that into a dual sleeping system.

 

Have you thought about just making your own foam mattress?

Yea the Hest is certainly better. I'm a side sleeper and I use to wake up with numb shoulders with the stock bed. With the Hest I don't wake up with numb shoulders and it's very comfy night of sleep. No hot spots. I'm really happy with it. Additionally, @badassbrunette on instagram. She lives out of her drifter full time and was the one that recommended it to me. I weigh around 170 lbs have no back issues or any of that jazz as well.

 

I'm headed to Punta Cana but when I get back I can take some photos!

Hey everyone so I have to swap my leaf pack out. I'm running the Dakar HDs and going to either a Deaver stage 2 or 3 expo pack.

So any real world with either the stage 2 or 3 ease chime in. I'm leaning towards the stage 3s for future proofing and overall weight but would like some input to help with the decision.

My bed is empty other than the drifter I have no rear bumper yet but will go with a dual swing out, I have no rocker gaurds but will do a bolt on set with kickout.

I have a dual battery sys no winch (will add with front bumper in the future)

Having said all the above please let me know your thoughts.

You should calculate the weight of the mods you're wanting (remembering to subtract weight of anything removed during install) and see which pack you'll need.
