    Also interested here.

Was hard to see at first and looks like it's getting worse? Am I the only one seeing that? Maybe just not so easy to see in the first set of pics is all.

But it definitely looks seal related. That bolt is not a drain, correct? I'll admit to not having been under my truck since the 3rd day I owned it, but that's how I noticed the rear bumper being WAY off on the left side. I need to jump under and take pics for my records and just to document. Probably a good idea. So I guess I'll add that to the list for tomorrow.

@OP, sorry you gotta deal with this. I would have wiped the fluid off initially too just as a reflex. But now you know how much and where it's leaking, so hopefully the dealer will tear it apart and confirm it's just a gasket improperly seated or torn... but that looks like red RTV so maybe no gasket?

^^^that's exactly what I'm hoping for. first time it went in, it was only an hour before it was ready. second time, 3 hours. I dropped it off at 730am yesterday and had to get a ride home from work. first time in my life im actually happy that its taking a long time cause it should point to a more thorough job on whatever it is they're doing. i do like the service department at my toyota dealer so my fingers are crossed they're able to pin point this and get it resolved

Yeah. But once you’re out of warranty I’ll bet they’ll sing another song and tell you it’s a 3000$ job

Truck should not leak anything with 5k miles on it.

I did find another dealer on it's vibration issue and the service manager looked for service bulletins and in the vin history and said case was already resolved and closed. He said to check back every so often for new bulletins.

There is no gasket it's just RTV it is possible if the bolt hole is not blind for oil to follow the treads remove the bolt clean it dab some Permatex on it and put it back in. Dismantling the transfer case to reseal it may cause more grief than a tiny leak.

My truck had a similar issue though it never leaked that bad. Toyota replaced the transfer case breather and input shaft seal under warranty. Had to order the seal in advance but only took one day to perform the work.

Side note, read my thread if your interested, my dealer used the wrong fluid in the t-case so be aware of that.

thank you for the info. yeah it does seem to be a bad leak but it still does drip on the driveway. if i remember correctly from yesterday i think that input shaft seal is what they were waiting on to come in. never ended up getting it back yesterday so hopefully today gets it done! and ill be sure to ask about the fluid

Invoice looks like they replaced a transmission seal but the fluid in your picture looked like transfer case fluid… I would ask them to confirm.

yeah they originally replaced one on the second visit and when I brought it back for the 3rd time they were thinking that it was coming from further up and slowly running down to where it was dripping if that makes sense. I definitely have my fingers crossed and will be checking it for the next few days

I’m confused that the fluid in your picture is amber in color, transmission fluid is red /brownish. Doesn’t look to me like transmission fluid is what was leaking
