I get being concerned about tire temps but I've yet to have any issues to temps below freezing unless I hit some black ice or something. I can count on one hand in 30+ years how many times that has occurred. I tend to ride less aggressively when it's cold anyway so it's never been a factor for me.

    I'm something of a glove collector........Always looking.

Same, never had tire temp be an issue. We're not generally riding supersports with track specific rubber that has to be on tire warmers. I have dropped pressure a couple times when there's been snow but otherwise yolo. It's not like I'm riding across russia and it's in the negatives. What I've been caught off guard by is rocks and sand they put on the road, but that's usually just a little slip of the front or rear end and nothing major.

get a dirtbike and practice some moto skills, that it will for sure help you overcome some of those tire worries, little counter steering and proper body position will have you dominating that thing around turns like a pro

Do you have a bike specific air compressor?

Yeah, I have a BestRest CyclePump. It's a bit on the expensive side but is built like a tank and has some neat features on it. Also met the inventor/seller of them at a training one day, stand up dude and very active in the PNW adv scene.

I actually have quite a bit of stuff from him.. I have his tire changing set and bead break'r thing, too.

As someone with a smaller palm and long, skinny fingers, I have issues with glove sizing all the time lol. I've returned so many to Revzilla searching for the right fit.

Question: should i do my first service early by about 150 miles? Or wait until the actual miles?

You are riding it enough. I would wait until recommended mileage.

Agreed. If you haven't reached the actual miles by the time you put it away for the winter (blech) then do it then, but no need to do it now if you're still riding.

Was asking because im excited for my first ride offroad with @4x4Runner on Saturday! Probably will be about 20 offroad and 120 on.

Since I don't have any luggage yet, I gotta dig out an old Camelbak backpack and get a new bladder for it, even though i have all of the pockets. I havent rigged up my Kriega bag yet.

Sounds like you will be ready for the maintenance after the ride  You get all the protection for the bike for those 20 offroad miles?

No :anonymous: that protection costs as much as truck armor. I have the stock skid plate though.

What we are doing is light gravel

I'm 4 miles away from 44,000 on my F800GS. I have to find a scenic viewpoint for the 44,000 odometer photo that's within 4 miles haha. Things a tank. But it's also a 2010.. not nearly as impressive at your 19K.

I will also add, the heated seat is a-freaking-mazing in the cold. HUGE difference in comfort.

Bought my 2014 FJR in September of 2019 with 7500 miles on. Shows 31,500 now.

Heated seat would be kind of nice......
