My wife has a Tesla. The winter performance reduction isn't a big deal. Maybe 15%. I loose more than that on my short commute to work in my Tacoma.

I still think the majority of people buying vehicles don't give a shit about EVs... and have no interest in driving one.

    No shit...its still cost prohibitive.

I'd love one but I cant afford it.

With Toyota coming out with their EV's, its nice to see a long established automobile manufacturer embracing the alternative power source and making it more accessible.
The market that Model 3 was supposed to capture but didnt/couldnt.

New, expensive. Used not as expensive. i can't afford new and would rather wait for Solid State batteries anyway.

We already have 350KW chargers where I live. I think Teslas max out at 250kw. I imagine this would be useful for charging trucks with larger batteries. On top of that, there are already some mega chargers (1+ Mega watts) being tested in Nevada. These are supposed to give electric semi trucks 400miles in 30min.

    We're almost there.

There isn't a lot of interest in EVs. Toyota released all this EV news, but they no there isn't a lot of intrest there. You would see more EVs on the road if there was. There aren't any specific reasons people aren't interested in EVs, they just aren't interested. The industry came out with the term "range anxiety" no body has range anxiety, people aren't generally interested in driving an electric car. Oh wait, the charging network needs to be increased. No, the charging network does not need to be expanded. People aren't interested in electric vehicles.

Some people are interested in EVs, they will buy and drive them, but most people don't care.

There arent many EVs on the road because apart from Tesla, no other manufacturer has really made it en-masse.
At this point sure, there arent as much interest but given the push from both corporate and government bodies, itll eventually catch on.

Still cost-prohibitive, infrastructure is lacking, not as much designs, the reasons pile on.

Sure it will eventually catch on, for various reasons. One of those reasons won't be genuine consumer driven market demand for the product.

Lmao...They wouldnt be selling out POs if there werent genuine consumer demand.

Ford had to close off PO of their F150 Lightning. Yeah, genuine consumer demand.

One has got be high off of something not to see that objective reality.

Or maybe just lack of charging infrastructure in 70's era buildings.

Or because the early EVs get a ton more credits and people are getting ahead of the action... Plus a pretty limited number of preorders due to inability to source as many batteries as they need.

In 2022 they plan on making *15,000* of them.

By comparison, they make 900,000 regular F150s a year.

Where do you get fake news from?

    https://www.bostonherald.com/2021/1...-lightning-reservations-as-demand-skyrockets/

The current demand for the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning is so huge that Ford Motor Company actually stopped taking the $100 refundable reservation deposits accepted since the global reveal in May.

“We’re completely oversubscribed with our battery-electric vehicles, Lightning especially,” Ford CEO Jim Farley told Jim Cramer on the CNBC Investing Club during a livestream broadcast late last week.

“The F-150 Lightning, America’s bestselling vehicle. Everyone loves the electric version. They haven’t even driven it yet,” Farley said between meetings with his board of directors at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Mich.

Ford is pausing or delaying the the production of their electric truck, due to supply chain issues. This was announced in the last few weeks. I'm sure Ford will ramp up production once they can, with the exception of additional supply chain issuse.

That does not mean the demand for the vehicle has increased. There could, and probably is less demand for the vehicle than Ford has projected.

Yeah keep telling yourself that. No source behind the bullshit either.

No wonder democracy in this country doesn't work....
I feel sorry for the people in this country...

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/12/09/for...ickup-because-of-demand-ceo-tells-cramer.html

“We had to stop reservations we got so many,” Farley added. “We stopped at 200,000, and those are orders. Hard orders.”

Farley said Ford, a core holding in Cramer’s charitable trust, is pushing full production capacity at “70,000 or 80,000 units” for the Lightning, the all-electric version of America’s decadeslong best-selling F-series pickup truck.

“We’re going to try to double that,” he said.

Had to stop taking orders, because they can't produce the vehicles. Due to not having the materials needed.

What you keep repeating was announced before the announcement of shut down.

Ford has a great communications team that will hype their success before delivering the bad news. Which isn't that bad.

F series sales does not have anything to do with Lighting PO.

Ford does sell more trucks than Toyota.
