As many of you may know, I just had my rear sliding cab window replaced in my 12 Prerunner a few weeks ago. When they did the install the passenger side glass had a small imperfection that they called a bad bend in the actual glass.

Even though it was comedic it still merited replacement. After seeing someone here looking for the left side glass a few weeks ago I thought maybe someone could use the new old glass that they replaced. So I grabbed it on the way out. It is a new dark tent aftermarket sliding rear glass from my 2012 Prerunner. The outer seal has been cut to allow its removal.

I am happy to offer this rear window free for delivery gas reimbursement to anyone it might help within a reasonable driving distance of Austin.

If the encapsulation wasn't cut I'd take it but it's not really usable anymore unless you just don't have a window at all but if that applies to anyone looking at this you can pick it up from him and hit me up I'll install it for you but that isn't free lol

Yeah, this is pretty much what the installer told me as well. I was hoping that someone like you (a professional) would want it to have on hand in case of a need. What would you charge someone to perp and install it in a truck? This is for reference to those who may be interested.

It is a very nice slidder, in fact, I liked its darker tent compared to the OEM that was put in its place. It was in my truck like three weeks before they called and said the OE glass I ordered was in.

Probably around $200 I've done a stationary removal to install a slider and that's what I charged them if I had to provide the part id definitely charge more because the parts aren't cheap.

    Who did the install?

I'm guessing safelite with the terminology used and that they warrantied it for a bend. Typical mom and pop shops would just send you on your way lol

You are correct sir! You know I have seen a few here knock the name because of their personal experiences, and I understand that. But Safelite has never been anything less than absolutely excellent with me with every visit I have had. I know that from location to location there can be a diff so I cant speak to that. But I have had over 10 pieces of glass replaced at the Howard Lane Location in Austin and everyone I have encountered there over the years has gone above and beyond to make sure I was happy with the outcome of the work. I would not even consider allowing someone else to do an install for me.

When they installed the glass I am offering here the defect was so small that it was really nothing. Yet they without prompting said the OEM replacement was already on order and even apologized for my trouble that was of course beyond their control. I show up Wednesday morning to hear my installer say "I heard you had a lot of miles to cover today so you are the first in today". My mouth just hang open as this came from a gentleman with them named Eddie whom I had spoken to regarding my install and mentioned my having to be in Dallas to support my wife as she is helping with her father in his last days. True consideration, from a quality outfit in my book FYI

Well just call it then, If you want it, I will for the good of the effort deliver to Austin for a Jackson. I can't imagine anyone not being thrilled to have a new tented slider installed for less than $300 all in on your end.

Eddie is a good dude one of my favorite people that work there. Who was your installer? I'm guessing it was Larry or cliff they are the early birds. Both great techs. I just left safelite about a month or 2 ago they were good to me for a couple years until they weren't so I went elsewhere. Now I'm with caliber autoglass.

I'm blown away they gave you oem as a replacement that's usually a last resort however sam had been the asst. Manager for a few months and that's the best thing that store could have done for itself he needs to be running it. He probably made the call to get you oem

I hope you'd allow me to lol not with them anymore but having the experience necessary and being a fellow tacoma enthusiast. Plus when it comes to toyotas I work to the fullest of my capabilities
I provide quality work on every car I touch but I can say in all honesty I've spent more time on some toyotas than some Mercedes or bmws just because I want to make sure the owner keeps loving the toyota

You know I think I know who you are as far as your truck is concerned. I had spoken of TW to one of the guys there and he pointed you out as a member. Did you just leave in the last month or so?

Oh, and as to the OEM, you and everyone else. My Allstate policy is over 30 years old and it gives me the option to choose. You wouldn't believe what I have to go through to prove that when it is needed.

I had them put OEM in the front last year as well. Got to love the truck drivers who take special care to clean the rails of their beds. Without them, Safelite would go out of Biz!
