Your opinion, is the El Camino a truck? If no, what is it then? If yes, what makes it a truck?

I prefer the Australian term. It's a Ute.

Somehow, despite having the Ranchero and Camino for the larger fraction of a century, we haven't ever adopted a proper name for them.

Edit, I cheated and looked up the answer. The official classification is "coupe utility."

 

I think it all depends on the ethnicity of the driver/owner

Wasn't every generation based off the Monte Carlo of the same generation?

It's Chevrolet Chevelle El Camino.

 

Early models looked the same as the Chevelle. The El Camino was also produced after the Chevelle was discontinued. I think that was when the Monte Carlo platform was used.

 

Not until 1964

Chevelles were not around in '59 & '60 which were the 1st 2 years of El Camino
