    DAMN.

Anyone know an appropriate expression for being super fortunate not to have been mauled/killed but unlucky enough to have your truck grudge-humped by a semi?

Neighbors tree, about 80' tall cottonwood, home to numerous squirrels who have hollowed a great deal of it out. Neighbor is in his 90's and could care less. I spoke with him yesterday, gave him my name and number and politely asked him to have his ins. company contact me. He said he was sorry and closed the door. I'm pretty sure I'll be replacing parts on my own.

Call your insurance. They should subrogate the claim for you. I asked because I'm a Certified Arborist of 30 years, now retired. Dealt with this shit for insurance companies a whole lot. If the tree is THAT dead (it's obviously been that way for a hella long time), it's negligence on the owners part. His insurance is on the hook and they'll be pissed. He shouldn't have snubbed you like that but since he did, drill him for it.

I spoke with my Ins Co today, they sympathized but said he's not liable. Truck only has minimal liability ins, so the repair is on me. Then I mentioned that the tree is dangerously close to crushing my house, that caught their attention since they would have to foot the bill. I will be getting a call back from them on Monday. :notsure:
