Me and my dad came back tuesday to the spot I saw the 4 point running does the other day and split up a couple ridges. He text me “there’s a monster on this far ridge but I can’t get on him.” Don’t know what it was, but he said it was big. Went back yesterday morning and he tried to find his tree again in the dark. Couldn’t find it so he randomly got up in a tree. Less than 100 yards from me but I still couldn’t see the saddle/ridge he was looking at. Just before 8:00…BOOM! So i assume he got the big one he saw Tuesday. He said “not the big one, but a decent deer”. Ended up with a pretty decent 6 point that was pretty swole up. We don’t get picky with national forest deer around here. It’s one of those “if I don’t shoot it, the guy on the next ridge will” type areas.

So disregard my post about deer not moving. Second rut is on and yesterday was my last day of vacation :(. Went back yesterday evening to see if the big boy would walk out. Had 3 does come in right before sunset and met up with something on top of the ridge that I couldn’t see. I’ll go back Sunday…

The 6 point he killed. Thought it was on the message last night but guess it didn’t attach

    PLEASE

That should have been a pass, that buck has really good genetics, lots of research on this, anything with 5 or more points as a yearling has a great potential to be one hell of a buck!!!!

That is my daughter, she is 6. Her first deer. Doesn't matter to me how many horns it had, she said she wanted to shoot it :D

That small buck means more to me than the 165 1/8" I have on the wall with a bow.

I agree with you 100%! Anyone who criticizes what a 6 year old shoots for their first deer is a total Jackass!!

As a Biologist, it's important that we start the kids off on the right path, she may grow up one day and become a Biologist and then ask you, why did you let me shoot this buck...

Not mad at the decision a bit, its always awesome to be proud of your child's first deer, but atleast we are informed now.

Continue on, hunting and outdoors we go with kids in tow!

I did not criticize the kid, nor the parent. Hey Hey Jackass, a little education helps us all.

me thinks, NONE of us need education in biology, land or game management. I praise Six, for introducing, and allowing his children to hunt. I know for a fact, it was table fare, and his daughter will never, ever forget her 1st deer, especially, when hunting with her dad..
