I hope I’m that spicy in my 70s, what a savage.

 

How was it a bit and run? Didn't the vehicle roll over? Did the guy run on foot?

 

Are these plug and play for the 3rd Gen Tacomas? I'm looking to upgrade from the halogen bulbs to something brighter and those fit the bill to a "T"!

Trying to convince myself to not buy the set of RCI sliders on the 3rd gen for sale section up in MD and stay with trying to build my own.

Looking back, why do you wish you would’ve gotten a different degree slider than the one you have or why do you like the angle you have?

Not worried about DOM vs HREW, top plate vs no top plate, or weld vs bolt … just strictly the angle. Appreciate y’all’s input!

 

I went flat so my wife would have an easier time getting in and out. I went with the covers for a little extra traction in mud or ice and snow. No one slipping off of the bar trying to climb in.

 

I went angled at 20 degrees because I liked it tucked up while wheeling. Makes a shit step though and sometimes my pant leg rubs on it while getting out. Not the end of the world but has its drawbacks. When you say build your own, do you have the tools to do so?

Not yet, I was going to purchase the bend pro software to start the design process then realized I have free access to all the auto desk tools. I’m trying to find something that would work like bend pro but haven’t had much time to play with the tools.
As far as “hardware” goes, not personally (yet) but have a buddy that does. Also has some 1.5 inch DOM, .120 thick that I could get relatively cheaply.

 

Ah I gotcha. Well for what it's worth I would say just buy the RCI ones. Working with round tube is really difficult unless you've got a bit of experience under your belt. Even I wouldn't want to build sliders, I'd rather just pay someone.

edit: If you think this could be the start of building more stuff for your truck and you want this to be a project to get into it then by all means, go for it. I don't want to be discouraging. If I needed sliders I would just buy the WIY 4xinnovations one. A good middle ground of saving money but also saving effort versus starting from scratch.

 

I have the 4xinnovations ones and welded them together. Not on the frame yet. It's nice because they do all the hard part about bending it up, and then you can do the welding

And the price is pretty good, because they can buy the metal in bulk. Maybe not as advantageous since you have easy access to DOM, but it's a nice plus for us without

Yeah it's been wearing there for a while. I can feel it thin there compared to the other areas of the tank. Have plans to relocate to a new tank in the engine bay, but didn't get to it yet

I considered making a new tank out of abs tube and just drilling holes for the pump but luckily I was able to reuse mine when tubbing.

 

I found the perfect size and shape Tupperware at Walmart, so gonna make a small holder and give that a spin. It's polypropylene which has a glass transition temperature (temp where a polymer transitions from brittle to ductile and visa versa) that is just below freezing, so we'll see how it resists cracking in the cold since it's kinda thin

Abs pipe is a good idea to try as well. I like experimenting. And it's thick enough that being brittle isn't an issue

 

You could 3d print something to fit and seal it off with a resin coat. That would be complete overkill but fun
