Lol my 35s weigh 64 pounds. Damn those are some heavy tires. Even heavier than my nittos were.

Good ideas. Could I ask how the Scangauge helps with monitoring the mpg. On my 22 Trd Or I have a screen that shows a bar graph of 0 to 30 mpg that is in real time.

I have a penchant for efficiency, I am retired and have nothing but time so I drive with the focus on maximizing MPG. On the Trd I regularly get 23 mpg with ethanol fuel. One way I do that is driving 55 o 65 mph average, going slower up hills by not increasing the gas pedal position as well as going faster down hill to keep up the speed average and take advantage of gravity. The single most important aspect is NOT using cruise control which will accelerate going up hills (the exact wrong approach). Also slow acceleration is important and CC is a fast transition to the speed set.

Really depends on your area if you're in a really hilly area or not. The automatic really struggles turning over 33-35s going up hills so it will downshift at the slightest angle and you'll be doing 3200 rpm or what not the whole time. Going up hills after I regeared to 5.29 I can hold my gear at 1800 rpm going up the same hills. Yes, your RPM will increase a little bit at speed, but getting larger tires reduces that a bit. With my 35s I'm doing ~2100 rpm at 65 and cruising in 6th gear. So, in my area I am probably getting better gas mileage regeared to 5.29s than not, with 35" tires.

Yeah it's not just simply a wider tire will reduce performance and mpg. You have to account for the weight of the tire (and wheel, if you changed it) as well.

Here is a fun little game I play with my SG2, instant mpg, avg mpg, mpg for the day, mpg for the tank.

keep the instant below the avg, and the both of them below the daily and tank..

hypermiling and Toyotas isn't a new thing. The Prius kids have it all figured out.

Hell of a lot of money for very little if any MPG gain. Bone stock 6 speed manual 20-22 (open road) even with fat snow tires.

Probably take years to offset the cost of purchasing a motorcycle, gear and insurance. instead just drive the truck. Lets say you spend 5k on all that stuff. That's 5k worth of gas. Just depends how that works out for you.

edit: and 5k is on the lower end but def can find a bike for around that and some cheap gear. but its also a lot more dangerous to commute on a motorcycle

And then all the maintenance a bike takes - tires don’t last that long, chains need care. Maybe a shaft driven bike would work, but when the number of oblivious drivers these days, safety would always be an issue.

Yup, my rear tires prob get about 8-10k for the tire and to replace you need to do front and back so looking at about 450ish for the tires every 10k. plus maintenance isn't too bad but if you ride that much it adds up so prob thinking around couple hundred a year or so

The Raven edition is by far the best color scheme Yamaha ever had. I had a 2006 R6 Raven and loved that bike...

Yeah the red and black looks amazing. I love black vehicles/bikes etc. I’m super jealous of my neighbour haha.

    This is amusing.

What do people expect buying a lifted truck with bigger than stock tires? One look at the sticker MPG and you just know it's going to be well under that. Whatever...
