Hi all just wanted to share my experience with you on these tires. I had the Wildpeaks in 265/75r16 in the light version. I then changed to the Toyo at3 in 255/80r17. I really liked the Falken's year round. They where a nice ride and had good grip on almost everything except ice. The Toyo's are definitely more harsh of a ride. I forget the load rating but I think this is the main reason for the more hash ride. The one thing I can't stand with the Toyo's is the grip in winter so far. If there is fresh snow they have good grip. But a soon as the snow gets packed they are useless and even worse on ice. I know the rubber compound on the lighter Wildpeaks are softer and this would account for the better grip. The only negative thing I can really say about the Wildpeaks is the longevity. They seemed to wear pretty fast. The Toyo's are so bad that this will be my first year getting dedicated snow tires. I live in Montana and have my hole life. So I am not new to driving in the snow. Hopes this can help someone.

Thank you for this post but I am sorry for all the trouble you are having with the Toto’s. I am about to pick up my new 2022 next week and just for a change I was going to try out the Toyo AT3’s as I have been running the wildpeak’s for about 4 years now and just wanted something different but I have seen a few of these posts lately and it has scared me away from the Toyo. I think I am going to stick with the wildpeaks again.

They make a 265/75/16 Toyo in a standard load. This is not an apples to apples comparison. Not saying the Toyo is as good or better in ice, but this comparison doesn't really tell us much.

Your 255s are going to be E load, you might want to check tire pressure. If your not towing or hauling I’d be looking at 30 psi front and back with E load tires in the winter.

Where did you buy it from? If you bought it from Discount Tires and not completely satisfied, you can take the tires back and get something else and they will pro rate the tires you brought back.

Not sure about taking tires back. I bought them locally at Point S. I typically run 33psi. Chalk tested to find the sweet spot.

I wasn't really trying to give apples to apples comparison just my experience with both tires.

I do wonder how the Falken's would do in the same size as the Toyo's

It's not just the compound, but also differences in siping depth/count and a 8.4" vs 7.6" tread width. Your experience is kind of given and not surprising at all.

Out of curiosity, what psi were you running in the Wildpeaks?
Adjusted recommended psi for the Wildpeaks is 27 psi and 35 psi for the Toyos. You were close enough on the Toyos @ 33 psi...
Point being, if you were 'over inflated' on the Wildpeaks, you might have enjoyed longer longevity and even better ice traction @ 27 psi.

That would have been the equivalent of 35 psi in the oem Goodyears.

I just bought some wild peaks and was debating on toyo’s. I just took the wild peaks into the snowy mountains and they performed well.

I definitely agree that I’m packed snow they didn’t hold up amazing but they did pull through. I’m running 265/70/17 at standard load with 30 psi

I had the wildpeaks in 265 75 16 SL load and now have the Toyo at3 same size same load rating and today I was just complaining about their performance in the rain. The Falken's were much better. The toyo's seem to wander way more. I liked the Falkens off road more too. I guess you live and learn.

Falkens have more siping, have a 1/2" wider tread width and void space...
I have to say, I was set on Toyos for my next set; you Fallken guys have have me reconsidering. The balancing/qc problems I read about were putting me off.

    @Hitman_Delta, just a fyi...
    Your adjusted recommended psi is 28. 30 psi in a 265 70 17 115(euro-metric) would be the equivalent of 35 psi in your oem P265 65 17 113(p-metric).

I'm running my first set of Falken WP AT3s this winter, they have done well so far in the snow & ice but real winter has not hit yet. I do not like the way they perform on gravel/dirt roads so I will only be using them for winter

I’m from NC so not a whole lot of experience with snow but I had a similar experience with the toyo at2’s. I thought the ride quality and noise was pretty similar to my falkens. Definitely less traction in rain and snow than the falkens. Like said above both terrible on ice. No experience the at3’s though.

You can't compare and E load VS standard load when it comes to on road comfort. E loads are a much heavier and stiffer tire. I have heard nothing but awesome reviews about the new Toyos.

My wildpeaks had a hard time balancing and are already starting to dry rot a year later.
