I think you need to find out if that trim is being pushed out by the beams and if so, whats the reason. Maybe it's the angle of the pics, but that looks like more than just the trim warping from weather.

That’s where my thought was with it as well, either something settled, or heat/cold contracted and bowed weird. May even want to check with a level to see how straight that area of the wall is, because either the trim was way to tight to begin with and they nailed it in place to lay “flat” which over time the nails finally gave and it all bowed out or there is a bigger issue possibly with the framing of the house settled and did that possibly.

Exactly. I dont think it has anything to do with the wall tho otherwise you would see cracking in the stucco. Which leads me to believe the roof or trusses. Maybe a bracket broke and pushed out that piece of trim. Without cracks or warping in the trim piece it just a strange thing to happen and leads me to believe something else forced it.

The fact that you didn’t have a seat belt on and were running back down the road before we even pulled up still amazes me.

The Cactus lives on! We have like 4 pots now with all his little offshoots planted.

For real. Was surreal coming around the corner and seeing that.

If you look closely it seems like the right hand side of the trim piece is bent slightly outwards, and the "seam/crack" isn't actually a seam, but rather a very perfectly placed crack where the trim snapped.

I know the house was built half-assed or maybe even quarter-assed (hooray DR Horton) but all I want is a safe and functional house. Cosmetic crap I can deal with, I just don't want leaks or structural issues. I'm not going to lose my shit if one section of the trim looks a little different than the others.

Gonna get up there on a ladder sometime today or tomorrow and pull it down, at the very least as a temporary fix I can use the good old "duct tape and a trash bag" to seal it after I pull the trim piece off.

I'm back. Hopefully gonna hit Broken arrow and a slew of sedona trails if I can catch a few days where that area is dry. Still stock height with slightly oversized tires but I got a ton of miles on dirt while in Reno so I'm much more comfortable behind the wheel. Also bought some sliders off a guy out there for a killer deal so that gives some peace of mind. Lots of snow wheeling in reno and night runs. Farther north so its dark by 4:30 this time of year. Gonna throw on some baja ditch lights here in a week or two to help w that. My factory leafs are sagging pretty bad now and they've picked up a squeak. Getting very close to being able to justify some new suspension. Only issue I've got is current tire prices are crazy... Happy holidays y'all. I'm excited to ride my bike one some good techy trails, but Reno Tahoe this time of year is beautiful and can't wait to get back.

Broken arrow has gotten a bit more serious since it's gotten a bit eroded, but I was still able to do it with a stock T4R, in the wet, with stock tires. I will say sliders were not an issue (had none) but the skid plate is going to get a workout. It's a ton of fun though, highly recommend!!

Cool! (literally, lmao) Of course, I used to live places where the daily high wasn't that high but I still wouldn't sign up for 20...:D

Took a level to the wall and it's straight. I'm no structural engineer but it looks like basically what happened was an unfortunate combination of factors led to the trim piece splitting at one of its joints as the house settled.

The spot that "cracked" is right exactly where there's a seam in the trim piece, and the trim piece lines up exactly with where the roof truss (? is that the right word??) would put downwards pressure as it settled.

This is after I pulled the one side:
    20211218_163119.jpg

Unfortunately I broke the other side as I took it off so there's no just slapping it back up there:
    20211218_163414.jpg
Based on the shitty overspray though I think something wasn't quite straight from the beginning.

Looks like I just need to get a new L-shaped trim piece, nail it in there (use 4 nails, one on either side of the trim piece and then shore up either side of the roof truss too) then caulk to fill the parts of the stucco that crumbled a bit. It's all tucked up under the eave so it doesn't have to be perfect.

In the meantime, trash bag and painter's tape hood fix!
