I'm guessing you're HazyDesignStudio on Etsy? Was looking up some mule scales and your work popped up.

Just had this bad boy delivered to me, Bark River Bravo machete. 17.5” long, 12” cutting edge, CPM 1V steel, 16oz. with matte black canvas micarta handles.

Gonna have same company that made a kydex sheath for my Winkler Jaeger make an open back sheath for the machete in ranger green. Just need to get out to the woods and go chop some shit up now!

Do any of you know if anyone makes carbon fiber scales for the Kershaw Cryo 2.75 . I know it needs to be cut out for the spring inside. would be nice to lighten the weight on this knife a little bit. Thanks .

I have been a long time lurker on this thread and started to collect some sub $100 knives over the past year or so.

I just picked up this Kershaw Leek today that I really like and will probably replace my Buck Nobleman as my daily for a bit. I like the assisted opening and single handle closure with liner lock. Open nicely pulling on the spine of the blade or thumb stub.

Liner lock could have better engagement here...feels a bit soft to unlcok.

    20211216_153703.jpg

The blade hangs up a bit here on single handed closure.

Where the blade is hanging up it could be where the detent is re-engaging with the face of the blade. I have a few knives where they have that double clutch type deal. The higher end knives ramp the blade or design them so the detent never looses contact with the blade.

The leek is a good blade. You should look at CJRB and then the Spyderco cheaper line, they have some really good bang for the buck. Civivi makes some decent ones too.

Just picked up the Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker knife sharpener from Amazon and sharpened 3 knives tonight. Holy crap this thing is amazing. I’m sure there a bunch of experts on here that are really good at sharpening knives but I am certainly no expert when it comes to that. The Spyderco knife sharpener is super easy to use and after watching one 7 minute YouTube video on how to use it, I got my knives as sharp, if not sharper than when they were brand new. All 3 knives took about 10-12 mins total

Some really nice blades here. I've put handles on a couple blanks but finally decided to make one from an old file I had. Took three times to get the handle drilled correctly. Wood is Paduk.
It's veryupload_2021-12-17_8-46-13.jpg sharp and holds an edge quite well.

Absolutely man! I brought mine to work this morning and sharpened like 10 peoples knives. They all came out razor sharp and some of them were dull as hell!

I have one of the original Sharpmakers. mine comes in a nylon/velcro pouch. Its so good of a sharpener. I use it for my everyday Chinese Cooking Cleaver. I just eyeball a degree or two off the angle and go. I find mine isn't so good with some of the new modern steels, but maintains them fine. if super dull, game over. I have to start with a diamond stone.

awesome purchase...I think the sticks clog up over time. I use Ajax to scrub mine periodically.

I ordered a micarta scoria and a feldspar from CJRB. I love this thread, but I hate this thread. I was all excited yesterday for my little kershaw that has been in my cart for months and now thanks to you I have 4 more new knives on the way. :anonymous:

:D I do what I can. There are a ton of good budget brands out there. You'll eventually fall down the rabbit hole and start buying more and more expensive ones as your taste for better steels, actions, materials, and designs grow.

I am down the rabbit hole already my friend. How many knives do I have to own before it's officially collection?
