I took it to the post office and the post office said no, radios are a prohibited item to ship to china. also was going to cost $80 to ship, and possibly a restocking fee

Currently... not sure. I didn't do any self diagnostics like I usually do. I usually fix most of my own stuff. But when it failed inspection and I recently had to do all that body mount shenanigans myself, I just said to the shop inspecting it to do the parking break to toss them a bone and let them make some income because sometimes I feel bad only ever using the shop for opinions and doing all the work myself.

Anyhow, they said the parking brake isn't working and it is more to do with the handle itself and its connection from the inside to the mechanisms on the outside. That's all I know and that it is detached and they're waiting for a new one to install when they get around to it I assume after the busy holiday season.

In the past... we've had to monkey with that doohickey half way down the frame about 3 times with prior inspections (de-rust, lube, reconnect, etc.). When I first bought the truck in 2016 I overhauled the whole back parts from the rear axle to the hubs with new hardware. Once before someone "worked on" the actual handle on the inside. Again, I haven't paid much attention to the parking brake over time because they don't charge me enough to get my angst and have me do it myself (unlike saving myself $2000 to re-do a body mount, or $4000 to make new rocker panels, etc.).

But the bottom line is that I believe different shops I've had to take it to have had to do something with the parking brake nearly every year I've had it in for inspection. Am I being fed a line? Is it a common thing to just tack some extra cash onto an inspection repair visit? Sorry if this offends anyone who is a mechanic here. I hate when people treat me that way in my line of work. I hate having to explain that I do have character and am not a crook to people even though there's enough bad apples in the world to make people come in and treat me that way when they've never met me.

So, I ask if 1st gens have a lot of parking brake problems.

I used to had problems with the e brake handle on some pre tacoma b4. It was usually a lack of lube. Lack of use.

Do you still drive the truck everyday to work?? Using the parking brake every day when ever you park?

The only time I have problems is if the truck is parked for a month or two as long as I used the parking brake no problems .

This is with all the bell crank parking brake styles.

Then most of the time it is in the bell crank brackets the pin seizes from not being used

The front cable can start to fray where it attaches to the handle or the pulley the cable rides in can seize from lack of use as well

Oh... lack of lube and lack of use... those always lead to problems. So I need to work the ebrake more frequently and lube it good, and my problems will fade away, huh?

The head unit isn't important, sell it...

What is important is that you have a new truck coming and it a 3 pedal job too!

When is the projected arrival date? :bananadance:

    Good morning fellow Pennsyltuckyvanians!!

Beautiful day here in NEPA yesterday - rain today. We had our weekly Zoom Happy Hour with my sister and her husband who live north of Detroit. Lynn made homemade focaccia bread along with cherry tomato in balsamic vinegar and red pepper. red onion and olive toppings. We also had turkey meatballs in her homemade pasta sauce. The drink of the evening was Boulevardiers.
