Insurance is government-run in BC, with all the blessings and curses therein. In any case gap insurance would be moot in today's market, where his truck would be worth more today than what he paid for it new.

Totally agree with lostMarbles. If the frame is damaged, it has to be replaced. It is hard to replace the whole frame on the car. The labor will be a lot. If not damaged, you have a high possibility to keep it.

Damn! Sorry to hear... Was that guy texting while driving or how does that even happen at 30 mph? Wish people would just learn how to drive.

    Just an update for everyone.
It's not a write-off, no frame damage. The damages are estimated to be around $15,000 CAD.
It's getting fixed at the dealership I bought it from 3 months ago. They felt bad for me and with the used car market being so ridiculous they offered to buy the car back without any negative equity on my end. They are also going to transfer my extended warranty to my new truck. 2022 model is already ordered

Lol I know right. Truly blessed. Haha but honestly they were the only dealership not low-balling my 3 month old Tacoma with a $15k repair claim under the title.

I’m not sure what that means. They are buying your truck back for the original sales price?

Yes, exactly. They said if I didn't have the damage claim on my vehicle I could have received more than what I paid originally. Not sure how it is in the states but the used car market in Canada sky rocketed but slowly declining now.

No,it's going through all the proper steps and documentation with insurance.
Let's say I never got into an accident they would have offered me more for my truck than I paid.
Since it will have a $15k claim on it they are going to give me the price I paid for (with the tax savings included). Mainly because I am a getting a 2nd truck from them within 3 months. At least that is what they told me. I'll update the forum with the trade in value once the truck gets repaired.
