ECT has slightly higher trottle limits per gear.
Technically, it allows more throttle for the same accelerator pedal input in ECT.
It does affect a power/torque production. Shift points alone won't hold the gears if there is not enough power/torque.

I can confirm that it does or doesn't. But after running the car with both 87 and 91 for extended periods, there is a difference in the Butt dyno when I hit ECT. Mileage is also higher. There is a difference. At least it feels that way to me. Is it worth it? This is not my DD, so for now I can afford it, but if it became my DD, I'd go back to regular, lol.

In addition to changing the shift points/holding gears longer, ECT also improves the responsiveness of the truck. It reduces some of the lag between pushing the pedal and the truck responding. There’s still a slight lag with ECT on (like all throttle by wire vehicles), but instead of about a full second of lag with it off, it brings it down to about a half a second. That made a big difference to me for how pleasurable the truck is to drive everyday. I use the “always on ECT” mod along with a Sprint Booster set on green level 6, and I like how my truck drives now… shift points, acceleration and responsiveness are all at a point that I’m happy with.

Now imagine if you remove all throttle limits with a tune and tune vvt and ignition to its full potential...

I don’t have to imagine, I tried the KDMax first (before I bought a Sprint Booster and the ECT always on module). I had some issues with the KDMax so I removed the tune. I am happier with my setup now on my truck. YMMV.

not really…just deleted like 300 photos off my phone.
The temps matter more in how the TC behaves when towing. With TC lock on temps are considerably lower (like 190-204 vs 224-233) when going up steep grades. When TC lock is off temps rise very quickly. ECT helps hold 4th so TC lock is on
